The Dallas Stars goalie, Ed Belfour, has left the team. I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything about why... I am personally absolutely sick over this..

I heard a blip on the news earlier saying that Belfour is back. IOW, he finished his little tantrum. My kids love hockey... it's a shame that so many of the players can't be better role models.

Thanks to all that replied. I've been out of town, and didn't get back to you. Thanks for the link and for "attending to my needs"!
mybiddness- Yep, he's back. Our backup goalie stepped up during the whole mess, and won all 3 games. He has now graciously stepped back down to his position as backup, with nothing but kind words to say about Belfour. A true class act.
preacher4u- You gotta train yourself to see the puck. It takes a few games, but IMHO, is well worth it!
In case you can't tell, my son and I live and breathe hockey. He started taking basic hockey skill lessons last week. We are not sports people, never have been. In fact, I used to shield him and discourage him from being interested in sports, simply because sports nowdays are not exactly what I would call a good learning example. (Especially here in Dallas, if you get my drift!) But I got hooked on the Dallas Stars, and am proud that they are a part of my community. We have met most of them at practices and special events, and they all (Yes, even Belfour) are so great to the fans. Happily giving autographs, and visiting even a few minutes with the fans, of all ages. They also do so much charity work. One of our star centers, Joe Neiuwendyke, works with the SPCA. During the off-season, he'll even show up some mornings and help clean kennels and litter boxes. I get this from a friend who works there, not a press release!
So, yes frinds, there is hope for humanity in pro sports. Now if our freaking goalie could just get his head screwed on straight!
Sorry for the long post. Thanks again to all who replied!

Hi Connie - My kids are both major hockey fans too. My daughter loves the Stars and the Penguins - (you should see her room decor - LOL) She's got tickets to the Stars/Penguins game this week (8 rows up) and is so excited - except she doesn't know which to root for.
Good luck with your son - my 11 year old played outdoor hockey for several years and loved it. The right team/coach is hard to find but they're out there.
I second the motion on Balfour - he should stop and think about how many kids look up to him... not to mention one bad apple... he's hurting the image of the whole team.
