Does anyone else find it disgusting that AW is currently running an advert featuring a photo of Stalin to advertise "Jobs Online"...... what other mass murderers of our modern times will be used next to sell, perhaps cars? Let them know how you feel by sending them an email.....there is a link down on the front page that states " contact us'......thanks guys! Craig

I use adsubtract, so I hadn't seen those ads (you should download it -- free and no more ads). However, having disabled it so I could see for myself -- yes, I think it's despicable.

Actually, I think "jobsonline.com" is the one that needs to know that they shouldn't really be using a guy who killed tens of millions of people to advertise their service.

Of course they aren't condoning his actions. Some things are just sacred, and the deaths of tens of millions ranks among them.

You know, it's not that I'm lacking in sense of humour (arguably, anyway ); and I have no problem with Stalin's image being used for an artistic purpose, for example. But for crass commercialism -- this little, dinky "jobsonline" thing defecates on the memory of those many victims, lives, murdered by this devil. It isn't at all ironic that Stalin himself said "one death is a tragedy, a million -- a statistic". Instead of thinking "tens of millions" think of one friend of relative who died -- in a natural way -- and think of the loss. Then ask yourself if there is anything clever or funny about this ad. It's disgusting, in my opinion.

Although I found it humorous at first glance, It's not the kind of humor I'd want to be put into print, especially not for a commercial ad campaign.
My thoughts really do go along with Oblivion's. I've posted a couple of times in the political posts decrying those who would compare current American politics with Nazism. Doing so totally dishonors those who so shamefully died in in that era. The same can certainly be said for Stalin and his Gulags.
As for the supposition that the advertisers didn't think it through, I don't buy it, otherwise why didn't they use Hitler's image? No, they thought it through, but weren't smart enough to realize that Stalin was just as much a butcher.
