hmmm...charity begins at home. I thought Iraq was low on medicine and medical supplies. He could take some of that money and use it to buy some for his own people. Unless he doesnt wanna.....

Let's face it, it's a good bit of sarcasm.
We've controlled his country ever since the little skirmish, and our economic sanctions have not hurt Saddam politically. They've only hurt the most harmless of his countrymen--the sick and the starving. George Sr. wanting to make the world "a kindler gentler place" started the ball rolling and no one's had the cajones to drop the sanctions.
Don't misunderstand me, I think Saddam is a dangerous man. But it's time we get back to fighting wars by targeting the individuals who start them. We seem to think that because American citizens would revolt under conditions similar to those in Iraq, that Iraqis would do the same. Sanctions are another misguided attempt by Americans to view all other cultures through American eyes.
