My mom (85 year old) remembers a very small part of a song that she & my father shared (Dad's gone 32 years now)....I would love to be able to get her a decent recording (cd or cassette) of one of the old time crooners doin' the song (Frank S., Dean Martin, etc. etc. etc.)....BUT I don't know what the song is, so it makes it tough to find it!....If any of you folks know it & could give me the title & maybe even a suggestion on a good recording, I'd be mightly grateful!
Find one of the artists in the right ear and see if that particular albumn has a track your mom can listen to.. and maybe that'll spark something more with your mom. That search was just with "beloved". .. but that's a good site to start unless someone else can come up with something that's solely for the crooners.

Sorry--I have nothing in my collection similar to that, nor have I found anything like it on the Net.
These two are the closest I can come up with:
Blue Skies (best known version by Bing Crosby, but also done by others including Frank Sinatra)
Blue skies smilin' at me
Nothin' but blue skies do I see
Bluebirds singin' a song
Nothin' but bluebirds all day long
Never saw the sun shinin' so bright
Never saw things goin' so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you're in love, my how they fly
Blue days, all of them gone
Nothin' but blue skies from now on
Blue skies smilin' at me
Nothin' but blue skies do I see
Never saw the sun shinin' so bright
Never saw things goin' so right
Noticing the days hurrying by
When you're in love, my how they fly
Blue days, all of them gone
Nothin' but blue skies from now on
Because of You sung by Tony Bennett
Because of you there's a song in my heart
Because of you my romance had its start
Because of you the sun will shine
The moon and stars will say you're mine
Forever and never to part
I only live for your love and your kiss
It's paradise to be near you like this
Because of you my life is now worthwhile
And I can smile
Because of you
------ instrumental break ------
I only live for your love and your kiss
It's paradise to be near you like this
Because of you my life is now worthwhile
And I can smile
Because of you

Hi rancher24 - I had a URL for Jim Reeve's site (*Jim Reeve's A-K* and *Jim Reeve's L-Z*) that had most songs listed on it. You could choose either by artist's name or song title. I just tried to get the URL for you,and it's denying me access. Maybe it's too busy? Or maybe they've changed the URL? You might try doing a search (later) under the name though. Sorry, I couldn't help.

Thanx folks....I did a web search about a year ago for this & came up with nothing...I thought since AW has so many experts, someone might reconize it....will try the web sites you listed here...I'm starting to think that perhaps this was a song that my father had actually written (he did write quite a few for his own personal pleasure)...

Thanx Linda, I still haven't found it, and it doesn't look like it's listed at that site...But there are several more links from that site that look like they might hold some promise!

Wasn't there a song from long ago (perhaps the 40's) Believe it beloved, because it's true, you're all that I want you to be...sorry Senior moments can't remember any other words...it was kind of upbeat and bouncy. The refrain of "believe it beloved" was repeated with a different verse many times.
Edited to let you know my Mom was a singer in the 40's and I was just a little kid honest. It also might have been reprised in the 50's, seems like they recycled songs more quickly back then.

Zilvy, thanx for the memories & the lead....
Bunnicula, thank you soooo much for your efforts..(I really appreciate you takin' the time to find it & all the links to buy it!)....I played the song for Mom & unfortunately, that's not it....
She did remember some more info:
The time period was around the 1920's....Song was a slow, romantic melody....
More Lyrics:
Because of you, the skies are blue, Beloved....
Do not dream love will die, Beloved...
Because (something, something) it was all worth while, Beloved...

Maybe I'm crazy, but for some reason Al Jolsen comes to mind when I see those lyrics. Maybe it just reminds me of something else he did. My grandmother used to play piano for minstral shows and when I was little she sang the songs to me.
