I'm looking for the wax that museums and Californians use to hold items in place on shelves in case of earthquakes, etc. Our new house is full of windows, we can keep them open a large part of the year. But I think this stuff might eliminate the problem of breezes knocking my glassware off the shelves I'll put in them. Appreciate any help!

Try Bed Bath and Beyond~it's the same stuff as candle wax, that sticky stuff to hold candles in place. comes in a round tin container. Works great!

Hi Bearmom...
Do you have any stores in your area where everything is a dollar?
I just bought a pack of "Power Tack Re-Usable
Rubber Adhesive" at a $1 store for some candle holders. Seems to be working well. And, the price was right.
Suggested uses: figurines, crystal, vases, candles, etc. Also for mounting photos, maps, etc.
Not to be used on any absorbent, printed, silk-screened or stencilled surfaces.
It isn't as messy as something clear (I don't know what it was) that the Mikasa store had used in a pair of candleholders I bought recently.

You can also go to any major Hardware Store, such as ACE, and ask for the earth-quake putty or equivalent. One comes in blocks of aqua-blue putty, and cost 1/2 the price of the REAL earth-quake putty, and works better..leaving NO marks on furniture.
Sorry, have had it so long, I cannot remember the name. I am from California and live smack on the Hayward Fault... The only thing not puttied down is my kitty cat...
******** Gosh Shosh!

There's not a lot of call for earthquake putty out here-just sand blowing around!
When I get to Austin, I'll try some of the hardware stores. The stuff that doesn't leave marks on wood sounds great. The problem with that green candle stuff is that it would show through the glass (all cobalt) So I'll look for the clear.
It's great to have so many helpful people around-I know you all can answer almost any question! I have the moving tags made for the pets, as you all suggested, it makes me feel better knowing they're labelled!
8 days to moving-everything I own is in a box-even my ironing. I just pull something out every nite and iron it for school the next day. Sound a little overanxious, don't I, but 3 months without DH has convinced me I'm not meant to be single. Nobody around to blame for everything!!
