Anyone remember the infamous Jeff Buckley thread? Of course ya do.

Well:

BRAD: ready to rock

HUNKY superstar Brad Pitt wants to play a character based on hunky cult rocker Jeff Buckley. Pitt has been obsessed for years with portraying the darkly romantic crooner, who drowned in Memphis in 1997, reports Spin magazine gossip Marc Spitz. Apparently Pitt even contacted Buckley's mother, Mary Gulbert, to get permission to use his life story and music for a fictional movie, and commissioned British screenwriter Emma Forrest to pen the script. "It concerns a Buckley-esque character who's referred to as ‘The Musician,'" a source tells Spin. "There are a lot of flashback sequences. It's not ‘La Bamba.'"

Oh brother, does Brad know what mama is like?
She'll have her nose in every scene trying to direct it, and they better not say anything bad about her dead baby.

I guess I should clarify. I'd link to the thread, but AW's archives don't go back that far.

ebaY's most prolific seller (and an ebay outlook poster) was auctioning a CD of a band that was said by critics to sound like Jeff Buckley, a late great singer/ songwriter. The auction made this comparison.

His mom is a member of ebay's vero program and she shut down that auction for no reason other then that it dared to compare another band with her untouchable and incomparable Jeffy-poo. It turns out that she had quite the itchy trigger finger as far as shutting down Jeff Buckley related auctions and the thread quickly turned into one of those monsters that wouldn't die, complete with lawyers, real and imagined, posting.

Didn't his mother start a ME page and wasn't she auctioning off some of her sons stuff herself? If so, is she still?

I laughed like a madwoman when I heard on the news that Jeff Buckley music was played at Brad Pitt's wedding.

In all seriousness Poc...

My kids mean a lot to me. I would probably go over the deep end if one of them passed on before me. And I am sure I would act weird...

It does not make her right and eBay should not have allowed the VERO program to be abused in that way...but please don't go off on a rant again. OK?

update:

Brad rebuts

DESPITE buzz to the contrary, Brad Pitt says he has no plans to play anyone resembling the late cult crooner Jeff Buckley. After reading our pick-up of a Spin magazine item yesterday saying Pitt would portray a "Buckley-esque" character in an upcoming movie, the hunky actor faxed us a statement denying it: "Although Jeff Buckley could possibly be my favorite artist, I have no plans to subject his legacy to a bio-pic." The cheeky Pitt added, "This is also true for Stevie Ray Vaughn, Nick Drake and Chet Baker." Spin gossip Marc Spitz tells us he stands by his story.

----------------------------------------------

I'm guessing that Brad got a taste of "jeffdefender" and bailed.

I would comment, but don't want it to be mistaken as a "rant"
