Going by a TV programme I've just being watching, BIG BUCKS!!!!
The programme was testing the quality of well known, heavily advertised brand name items against lesser known brands at much cheaper prices.
The results proved beyond doubt that the extra you pay for a brand name doesn't always equate to any superior quality in the item.
Very often the more expensive product was inferior.
What's your experience with this?

Hi Bob, I've found that most of the time the
off brands are equal to name brands and I
love the savings. However, there have been
those times when the off brand was really
Off It tasted like they had used a pound of salt to offset lack of quality.
I am very fortunate the DH loves to grocery shop, I hate it...so I don't get to read labels until after the deed is done. He has been very good and so have the stores about
taking back canned goods that don't meet our
taste test.
By the way...I am da cook, and very good at it, unless I have a special recipe I let him
be the hunter and gatherer and go with what I have available....always a good meal.

I've had two dermatologists tell me that the more expensive facial moisturizers work no better than the cheapest cold cream.

In regards to clothes soaps, liquid dishwashing soap, detergents etc. I haven't found much difference between the higher costing ones vs. the cheaper ones. But there have been times when I've purchased a less expensive brand of something and found it to be a 'watered down' version and not satisfactory. So I guess it just depends.

Hi Bob, I've discovered over the years that most cheaper brand things work just as well as the more expensive brand names. For instance we use a lot of Vit. E cream, and I buy the BiLo brand rather than go and purchase the more expensive brand name. It works just as good but for about a third of the price.

Most homebrand cheap household cleaning products are just as good as the name brand products. We do a lot of house cleans for Real Estates and we find that the cheaper brand domestos works better than the dearer product. Same with the chux wipes, why pay twice the price when they both work the same, and both have to be thrown away after so many uses. Of course there are some things that you just can not stint on, I like toilet paper that is soft and I refuse to buy cheap cheap for that one little luxury. LOL

Most tinned foods are made by the name brand companies but put under a different lable for the supermarkets. Almost all of them do not taste any different. My kids' refuse to eat any other type of peanut paste (butter) other than Kraft, and that is one I do not change.

Sometimes you do get something that is no name brand and it is crap, so you don't purchase that product again, but on the whole if you want to try the cheaper no name products you can save a whole lot on your shopping bill.
