This afternoon I stopped by my neighborhood Blockbuster as I wanted to rent the Beatles' flick "Hard Days Night." Here's the exchange I had with the clerk/maroon:
me: "I can't seem to locate 'Hard Days Night.' Can you tell me if it's in?
clerk/maroon: "What's 'Hard Days Night?'"
me: "You know...the Beatles' movie."
clerk/maroon: "Who are the Beatles?"
me: "Stop pulling my leg. You know who the Beatles are."
clerk/maroon: "No I don't; who are they?"
Have I crossed over into some world where the mention of the Beatles to a kid brings about a look of puzzlement, or was I dealing with a complete maroon? I am only *31*...a young grasshopper...a mere child...fresh-faced, unsullied, optimistic and full of life.....(haha!)
Yet this has me feeling really old!

I'd be happy to never hear another Beatles or Beatles alumnus song again.

lol. Im just gently teasing him alittle bit. All in good fun
Me, I didnt much care for the Beatles either. I did when they first appeared, as something new for this young girl. But, as I grew older, I leaned more towards the Rolling Stones.

Yeah...and the Animals. House of the Rising Sun...
Jules just likes them 'cause she didn't have to listen to Hey Jude 18,576 times on the radio...in one week I wanted to kill Jude...

Zilvy,
Blondes, mostly.
I have no affection for music older than 20 years. The only exceptions might be The Doors and singles like Runaway by Del Shannon (both the original and his later version), Spirit In the Sky by Norman Greenbaum, and In a Gadda Davida by Iron Butterfly. Maybe a couple others.

Geez, Julesy. Hope you smacked that clerk upside the head
Even my boys (Mickey & Jagger, ages 6 & 2)know who the Beatles are (they listen to Beatles CDs every night). Maybe it's the last name...how can they not listen to the Beatles?

I actually liked Paul McCartney & Wings.
At one time or another, both of my kids have asked to look at my old cassette tapes because they heard an old song on the radio and wanted to know if I had it. My daughter is into the Doobie Brothers an my old disco music, and my son was asking about the Eagles. I love it when a re-make comes out of a song, and I'll be in the car with one of my kids just singing along, and they will look at me and say "How do YOU know the words to this song???". Duh.

Back to the 80's I recall a TV newscaster saying that she'd been in a record store and overheard some young teens (maybe preteens) saying "Oh look, Paul McCartney was in another band before Wings" and that nothing had ever made her feel so old.
My ex was at an elementary school career day and was talking about catching the bugs in computer programs.. One class member connected this with how the beatles in his parents' computer kept playing playing this music he didn't like, and how he'd like to get them out...
