It looked for awhile that any Bush administration accomplishments were going to be to the credit of his cabinet members. Now it appears that any such positive programs or bills will be to the credit of the "new" Senate. It's obviously too early to tell, but in your opinion, will Bush's legacy be perceived to be a positive one after all? What do you think the Supreme Court will look like in 3 1/2 years?

The Supremes will probably look about the same. Ain't nothin' lives longer than a liberal judge waiting on the next Democratic prez!

My opinion on this is that the Senate change won't necessarily be as bad as some think. Time will tell, of course. What will be different is what bills get placed on the agenda and in what order. But since both sides want changes on many of the same issues I don't think the 'new' Senate will be much different from the 'old' one.

If one looks at the voting records of the Senators, when there was the 50-50 split, they will find that there are a few (anywhere from 3 - 7) Democrats that
have voted along Republican lines on several issues. I've only seen one recent Senate vote that was close...and that was still evenly split (50-50) and it passed (because the Rep. had control).

On the US Supreme Court issue, I believe the Senate is still too close for that to make much more of a difference than would have applied as it was.

So, guess what I'm saying is that IMO, this change won't stop the Senators that vote bipartisan from continuing to do so. They'll vote the issue. The Senators who only vote party lines, will continue to do so.

I agree with that summation, Linda. Now the Democrats are back to thumping that stupid drum of theirs about "the Rich" and the money that's going to them in the Temporary Tax Reducation bill (NOT Tax Cut!). Like most Americans, I believe in fair is fair. If the top 1% of Americans actually put so much money into our tax system that they truely do qualify for a 43% cut of the Temporary Tax Reduction, then I'm all for it. The stupid, idiotic Democrats STILL AREN'T LISTENING TO US!!!!

Will Congress and the White House PLEASE have the decency to resign and allow the American People the right to have elected officials that actually represent them?

I'm already looking into the possibility of lobbying for the NBA to give the title to the 76ers if they outscore the Lakers overall, but still lose 4 of the 7 games. I like this new idea. I think I can have a few of the Worlds Series overturned, too.
