Well, the recent demise of T.M. makes me think that maybe we blew it. There just doesn't seem to be enough "closure" to go around yet.
He's dead yes, but something is missing. There just isn't enough............."closure". Yeah, that's it "closure".
Maybe we should have made 168 clones of T.M. Let them mature, and then we could have killed one of him once a year for the next 168 years or something. Or maybe all at once in a blaze of "closure", say give 'em the electric bleachers! Now that would be some "closure" huh?
Oh well, just a thought.

Do ya think that would work Ray?
Could kick off an interesting discussion as to what status would be offered for human clones.
If we clone a human being...are they human?
If we clone the "perfect" soldier what will we do with it once there is no war?

Well, I've been hearing the word "closure" so often I'm about to gag. The press coverage is the worst. I'm sure the press would love the idea of killing another clone of whoever is on the most hated list at any given time. Although without viewers or readers, there wouldn't be any money in it.
Maybe a weekly T.V. show where clones fight to the death. We could have Charles Manson duke it out with Ted Bundy. Maybe cable T.V. is ready for the "closure network".

Don't blame the press for covering this obscene event. We are so fortunate to have them there with their cameras and microphones and for asking the question,
"How do you feel about this?"

Helen...there is nothing here indicating the press is being "blamed" for anything.

Read the thread.
The coverage is being criticized. Especially critical is this post:

Actually, I should include all media in my remark...TV and Press coverage.

Helen....
Although without viewers or readers, there wouldn't be any money in it. is the clue.
"Reality" TV is a big hit among TV consumers (watchers).
Plain and simple...it is all about ratings and nothing about freedom of the press.
News, thought provoking questions are one thing...media ratings are quite another. Sensationalism for the sake of ratings is a less than desirable portion of actual news coverage. It is a side effect of sensationalism for entertainment purposes.
Yes, one can complain any time anyone speaks out about news coverage...one can complain about anything and everything one wants to. But to say that this thread is in any way indicating that "blame" is being placed on the media is greatly stretching what is here.
Making "closure" the catch word of the day, technology dabbling with human cloning, TV veiwers, etc. are much more an issue here than the news outlets...

This coverage, reality TV, is nothing more than what we get at the end of a Political Debate, or even a Sports Event. WRAP UP filled with "color"...of course this is more ghoulish. However, after the first announcement of the death of McVeigh and one followup on an article posted here in the RT, I am moving on.
I watched the NEWS with the TV on mute until the McVeigh portion was over...approx. 6 minutes, I read the papers Not the McVeigh coverage.
This can drag on ad nauseum and probably will here at the RT. If you feel your concerns warrant coverage contact your congressman, write an editorial to your local paper....I will not participate in any further rhetoric regarding this completed "event".
The sentence was carried out, McVeigh is gone, done, finito...I don't need more coverage than that.

The movie "Network" is coming true. The story of News Programs, normally money losing but information rich, being remade and reformatted where profit is the main theme and actual news is somewhere near the bottom.

The best newsshow I have seen in the last few days on this subject (though I've watched very few)---was last nights 'Nightline'.
They interviewed various surviving family members of murder victims--all of the murderers had been executed.
All of them except one said Closure will never happen. That it is a media word that is meaningless

I don't really feel very thankful to the press for asking the same questions over and over again. Is there really some mystery at this point about how people feel? How many times do we have to hear/see it?
This is what I mean. If most folks just can't get enough "coverage", maybe my clone idea isn't so far off.

Hi, Ray. Do you remember that horrible 1970s movie about politicians who make clones so they'll be immortal? The name of the movie was Parts: The Clonus Horror, and they did an MST3K on it.
Think of all the closure people could get on a clone farm full of politicians...

Hi Lisa, Yes I do remember that movie. A "clone farm" of politicians. Now THAT is scary, and an even better reason for inventing the electric bleachers.
