Dim, Do you think it would be more representative to add the 65,000+ from the "other" book category to the books storefront total? It's up to you of course if you'd prefer to leave the breakdown as 1 user accounting for 28% of all listings.
I mean more representative as in the site is made up of roughly 42% sports cards, 34% books and 24% everything else. Just a thought for starting the new month.

If the listing numbers are going to split, I would vote for keeping the book storefront separate and not including the normal book listings. Since the setup for this storefront is different from the rest of the listings, I vote for keeping it separate.

I looked at the Antiques and Art category, it matters not to me that the items populating that categories are inappropriate, it matters not to me that the items may not represent an actual item. That is in the perview of Bidville, so they should address the subjects of "auction spamming" and "non-auction auctions"?
Funny, you didn't voice these concerns when Bidville was reporting their own numbers.

I looked up the autographs section in BV and a very large percentage of the items are not autographs. There are 'sign post' auctions everywhere in all categorgies and there are many porn magazine auctions running in areas that are not mature audiences only designated. In many ways BV is like a wild west town with no law and order.

Well Bidsbids, if someone has Playboy magazines & trading cards to list in Mature they'd have to enter a credit card and viewers would have to do the same to see those listings. OTOH Bidville offers alternatives outside Mature:
Magazines>Mens
Magazines>Risque
Collectibles>Art>Nudes
Collectibles>Trading cards>non-sport
Collectibles>Trading cards>general
The first 3 categories are virtually all Playboy & other skin mag & card listings. The other 2 cats have a much lesser % of the PB etc. but altogether there are multi hundreds of ads in all access areas. I personally do not think these items should be allowed outside Mature but it was BV who set up those first 3 cats in the general listings area. I mean mens & risque mags-what would go there besides PB type mags? Nude Art, IMHO art=paintings & statues, not common skin mags. I don't see where BV states for instance Playboys must go in Mature mens mags vs. regular mens mags. Some sellers may be uncertain while others might use these cats to bypass the CC requirement. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if most of the ads have been relisting where they are since Jan through June (the months there was NO mature section at BV.)
I have inquired to BV 3 times in 3 months and have yet to receive a reply on this issue. Obviously there remain hundreds of these ads in the general areas today so I'd say that's my answer and I'll not waste any more time asking BV about it, or the porn in regular movies. My complaints about those have been mostly ignored too.
Speaking of law & order-remember the Jan or Feb BV newsletter stating they were about to start a Neighborhood watch program to report violating ads? Oh well, yet another dropped BV project for your list.

The Playboy and Penthouse magazine auctions often show more than just the unaltered cover. The seller will oftentimes pick out the raunchiest photo in the magazine and use that as the second photo. I'd admonish any auction viewers with small children to avoid BV for the porn issues as well as the crude and inappropiate jokes and personal stories on the site. The site administration obviously does not care what goes on in their website.

Two snapshots today:
Bidville Motors, a category populated with 486 listings which had two closed auctions with bids (CAWB) in the past week (September 26 to date). That translates to an overall 0.41% sell-through rate.
Since the Books and Movies category is rather large, dimview will take a few days to get through all of sub-categories, but here's one for now.
Books Storefront has 299,171 listings which had six CAWB in the past week, which translates to an overall 0.00% sell-through rate.
fixed UBB.

The sell through rate at this site is sort of confusing. Since there is a huge group of people that only buy from each other, and just like sending each other money and items over and over, the sell through stats can be deceptive. There is not much action at this site. Its more of a gossip site, with some auctions thrown in there to make it look good. I got news for them though, it didnt work.

You hit the nail on the head. One big social club with the majority of all buying being amongst themselves. "Park and Party" for 'park your auction items' and 'party in the cafe' for a sense of community. If you're going to not sell anything you might as well party and try to forget, especially since the French Foreign Legion was disbanded and there's nothing to join now.

Magazines has three CAWB on 2,578 listings, or a 0.12% sell-through rate.

Plodding through the categories, having examined some 40% of all listings at the auctionsite thus far, dimview has yet to find a category with strong sales.
Little wonder why there's such a tiny sitewide sell-through rate. Little wonder, too, why clicking the "View Sales Information" yields nothing in the way of current sales information.

The Coins and Stamps category is giving me an "Error Occurred While Processing Request" message, so I'm going to begin the Collectibles category.

Well, here's a start to the Collectibles category with a snapshot of all the Collectibles: Advertising subcategories, which had 27 closed auctions with bids (CAWB) for the past week (October 3 to date) on 3,928 listings, or a 1.68% sell-through rate.

"Error Occurred While Processing Request"
That seems to happen frequently every time they have a "special" sale running. During the $1 sale, Sportmania & BV cares I got that page more often than any other page on the site.
Anyway, I see the time of your post is 9:30am EST. I got online at 7 EST and was greeted with the BV "we're offline for unsched server maintenance, expect to be back up by 9 EST." You probably caught them about the time they wrapped it up.

kasmoon,
Yes, I did see the "server maintenance" message, then when they got back online noticed all the categories worked except Coins and Stamps, so just went on to the next category and will go back afterwards.
Before leaving for a few appointments, I noticed Coins and Stamps was accessible, so clicked around a bit. In the coins categories I noticed lots of bids, BUT on clicking the listings themselves found that most were "reserve not met."
