I've never believed that PaymentAlt.com was a valid pay service but I keep visiting the site for more information and entertainment. Today I got a real knee slapper. This was the message that pops up on the home page.
"If you have logged on and know that you are using the correct user name and password, please re join our service. The Database decided to take a vacation on Thursday night and some of our clients lists were accidentally deleted. Also let us know what your account balance was before the crash and we will rectify that as well."
I guess I should contact them and tell them I had....hmmmmmmm... $1,000 in my account... no, no... make that $3,000. LOL

Their popup message also says, "There were way too many connections going to our host server. So they have limited the amount of users, our dedicated server will be online on Tuesday October 10, 2000. Please keep in mind that we are still in our pre-launch status."
and
"Thanks to a few ingenious little buggers who thought they could hack our system, We know who you are and you will be prosecuted. For every one else. No ones account information (i.e. banking or credit cards) are stored on the server."
But--on the up side--they are now international! Sounds like they are just having some growing pains.

Has anyone noticed that the Verisign logo that was there last week is now gone? I wrote to Verisign to ask if they did in fact guarantee this site and they answered, "All we guarantee is that the site is a real registered business." I explained what paymentalt was and what it might be (a scam to collect credit cards) and Verisign didnt seem at all alarmed. They told me to click their logo on the site and see what came up. So I reminded them that I was reporting that the logo was now gone. Strange that they dont seem to care that someone might have been using their logo illegally. Doesnt say much for Verisign either. http://www.ygoodman.com [email protected]

i would just like to make sure that noone still thinks this is a legitimate company... if they have pulled their verisign logo and have had their database go down, they are not legitimate, and even if they were, you would want to give them a wide berth, no matter how much some people on this board may want to give them the benefit of the doubt.
