Morning!

Just downloaded mail, have 2 from a gal who won an auction and she's in Australia. 1st one gives me her shipping details and states 'its the first time I've used paypal, so please let me know it worked OK', 2nd is the 'you've got cash!!' spiel generated from paypal but does NOT have her address anywhere.

Click into paypal, there's her $10, sitting real pretty, right on top of my incoming $ stack.

I emailed paypal regarding what to do.. send, not send.. refund??? but figure you AW Gurus would lend much quicker advice. What would YOU do?? Please help, oh kind, great ones!!

IF the money is there in your account, she probably has roots in the US, so everything on that end should be OK. But what about shipping costs to Australia? Could be a LOT higher than what your auction stated. You had better check that out before shipping and get that straightened out with your buyer if shipping costs are way out of line.

S'ok, she paid the int'l cost for shipping; I am just worried about shipping out today and having Paypal lock me out if there's a 'fraud complaint' with her card or something.. her email address is also an Aussie one so I'm still just CONFOOOOSED!

If I were into perpetrating frauds, I would certainly set my sights higher than $10. I'm virtually certain that all is OK, but if you are uneasy, I'd wait until you get some assurance from a PP representative - Damon or otherwise.

One other thing that you could do now is to check if your buyer paid by CC. If you weren't, then you should be able to rest easy. Just check the "Source of Funds" notation at the bottom of this "Transaction Detail". (Click on "Completed" to get to Transaction Detail)

Email the buyer and ASK her what the deal is with the PayPal payment. But be aware, even though this is only $10, PayPal isn't international yet and they will afford you NO protection in case this is a scam.

It could be that the buyer has relatives in the US or her own bank account in the US. But I would email her and ask. If you don't feel comfortable with her reply, just return her payment and cancel the transaction. $10 isn't enough money IMO to justify a major headache (which seems to be quite common among PayPal users lately).

Yes, it was a credit card payment, and yes, $10 isn't much but want to be on the safe side as to not have my entire account shut down if (worse case scenario) she claims to not recieve payment and Paypal freezes me up for 'fraudulous acceptance of a credit card' or some schmoo like that I'm waiting for their reply with anTICI.. pation.

Very wise move...

$10 isn't all that much to worry about, but having a migraine compliments of PayPal's "fraud protection" measures is!

And (drum roll puh-lease) the verdicts are in. Paypal responded saying they are not ready for int'l use, so if I decide to ship, I have no seller protection and good luck with the transaction. (thank you, paypal) The bidder also responded stating they have a US credit card that gets mailed to her in-laws CA address for uses such as this, so I reckon I'll g'head and ship, then come crying back to the boards should anything go haywire.

Thank you all for input!

I don't know..perhaps you guys do... but if there is a U.S. military base in Australia, then it is handled just as if it was a U.S. transaction!

There are a few reasons an "international" transaction may be considered domestic.

1.) I had a customer in Guam. Well, that is a U.S. holding..so it was considered a U.S. transaction.

2.) I had a customer in Saudi Arabia, on a military base. It was also considered a U.S. transaction.

Oh and by the way, both of the above transactions are considered U.S. postal sites. So, you can ship Priority Mail, rather than the expensive Global Priority Mail.

Hope this information helps! I am always willing to help a fellow E-Bayer!
