OK, PayPal has gone international. Great news!!!
I sign up, np problems.
However to send or receive money my credit card has to be verified.
Again the form is easy to fill out and I've got no problem with that.
BUT!!!!!!!!
PayPal do not have any system in place to verify a credit card that is not issued in the US.
They now send me a message saying that they will no longer recognise the credit card number I have tried repeatedly to register and I must provide them with another valid credit card.
How dopey is that?
I've got one credit card, it's valid and thats all I want.
What mental giant at PayPal came up with this one.
What it means is that international users can sign up, must register a credit card as that's the only way we can use the system, but because PayPal can't verify their card if it was issued outside of the US, none of us can use their services.
Gimme a break. This is pathetic!

Has anyone been able to sign up with a non-US credit card?
I tried three different (Norwegian) cards, with two different financial institutions, all in good standing, with matching billing addresses, resulting in a restriced account and Paypal accusing me of "possibly" committing a fraud! I've waited 12 hours since my mail asking them to lift the restriction, and no answer yet.

Join the Club. This has happened to me. i only have 1 credit card and I have had the same happen. So I have got a new card issued. and now it tells me it is unable to verify my card and that I should contact the
Customer services dept of my credit Card Company. It would have been easier to stick with Bidpay. At least i did get on to A very competent customer service officer who said that she would refer the problem on to their headquarters. So hopefully something happens. She did say that they had quite a lot of complaints about this problem but said it did not happen in all countries.

Totally true. I had a bidder, and she tried paying with Paypal. She has paid me before with Billpoint, so I know her card works, but Paypal just wouldn't accept it! Stupid. And I was so excited when I heard it was going international too.

What did anyone expect? Did you really think that Paypal would work on the international level? It can't even handle normal transactions! Of course it will have major malfunctions! It always has and always will! Until they can straighten out their everyday problems, they will never be able to handle anything new. What is the use in even trying?!? I have given up on them ever becoming an organized well run company. I only use them when my customer insist. Perhaps in the future, when they get their act together (if that will ever be possible), I will use them on a regular basis. It is a shame for them, as they are losing out quite a lot of revenue. But, meanwhile, I would rather give my money to a service that runs like a well oiled machine, rather than on that runs like a clunker that should have gone to the junk yard years ago!

One week later and still no answer from Paypal. The silence is deafening!
Have they thrown in the towel and all quit? What a way to run a business.
