I received a "Notification of Account Restriction" e-mail from PayPal on April 12 at 7:30 pm ET. Essentially, it states that they do random inspections to eliminate the threat of fraud, and my account -- which is less than three weeks old -- was flagged. I can't do anything with it until PayPal says everything is OK.
The problem is that I was going to pay for a number of auctions and now I can't. No one has responded to my e-mails, because they are probably all out of the office having Easter parties.
Now, I certainly agree that eliminating fraud is a noble pursuit, but to place the restriction at 7:30 pm on a Thursday night before a long weekend is pretty low.
Maybe my account was flagged because I am a Canadian resident with a U.S. bank account. (I confirmed my checking account only a few days before PayPal placed the restriction.)
