Why must I use it as a credit card (no pin required)instead of a debit (pin required) to get the 1.5% cashback? What is the difference? Has this always been the case, because it does not mention that when you click on the 1.5% cashback option on the sign in page, and it does not mention it on the preferred seller page. Why must I jump through yet another hoop just to get my 1.5%? What is the difference?
It's a HUGE difference for PayPal. First of all, they get paid every time you use the card as a MasterCard. They're sharing that payment with you. They don't get paid when you use it as a debit card, and they have to pay in order for you to use it at an ATM.
Second, if they paid out 1.5% every time someone took cash out of an ATM, or got cash back at the supermarket, too many people would withdraw their entire balance.
