Is it just me? I have used them for about a year now. I have added funds withdrew funds, paid auctions and now use the devit card...I have never had an ounce of problems...Are your cases unique? I just concerned when I see your postings...
I do know there are a few other online payment services, have you guys tried them if your unhappy with paypal?
Not trying to stir the pot, but I really have had an overall great experience with PayPal...
I was once like you. I sent and received PayPal payments without a hitch, and I couldn't have been happier with the service and the convienience it offered.
Then I needed help from PayPal customer service, and saw the 'dark, soft underbelly'.
Just pray that all your transactions go smoothly, and that yo don't ever need help from customer service, as I predict that you will be singing a different tune.

Paypal offers a valuable service. It expedites transactions for both sellers and buyers. They were one of the first. I would expect that most of Paypal’s user base is probably very much content.
That said……..
Much of the criticism surrounding Paypal concerns basic "Customer Service" issues. On those occasions when everything does not go smoothly, Paypal is usually of little help. They prefer contact be made by e-mail but fail to respond timely if at all. Resolving issues takes too long and they do not keep the person updated along the way. Releasing questionable funds is not financially in their best interest. Money in their possession makes them money. It is that simple. Paypal had (they claim it stopped) locked users accounts for reasons not always explained. They then took a long time to “investigate” before eventually returning peoples money. Some people are apparently still waiting. This is probably the primary reason they have an unsatisfactory rating with the Better Business Bureau.
There are other concerns. As a private company, only they know their financial strength. Paypal prides themselves on how many people signed up for their service. How many of these people are like me, basically paid to sign up and never leaving funds in my account? How many of these accounts are inactive.
Paypal is "Not a Bank" as they clearly state, so they are virtually unregulated. As such, funds in their possession are not insured federally or otherwise. At a time when companies cease operation overnight, some people are concerned about funds in Paypal’s possession.
Perhaps I am cynical, but companies have faded away after making big splash loosing money on every transaction and trying to make it up on volume.
I still have my account. I just limited their access to it and don’t keep anything in it. It has went from first to last choice in a very short time.
I am sure the Paypallies* will feel free to set me straight.
*Note that Paypallies refers to fans of said company and is not an inference that they are company employees, investors, or in receipt of any compensation from said company.

Hi joedptro,
Thanks for the kind words, as they are much appreciated.
"Can PP pull money from my savings should a charge back ever happen? "
No. Please follow the Seller Protection Program to reduce the possibility of a charge back and you will also eliminate your liability for charge backs by following it. We will not access your bank account without your permission.
"Can they charge my CC if I have no PP balance at the time"
Yes. This is covered in the terms of use.
