Dear Paypal Damon:
Yesterday I received a phone call from a fellow who said he was from Paypal. He asked a lot of questions - was I satified with my account and the service, did I use the PP logos on my auctions, had I activated my PP card yet etc etc etc. Was this a legit call? Thanks in advance for your reply.

I have received the "courtesy" call from Paypal also. They started asking how thing were, etc., and when I told them I have a buyer complaint in right now and am getting tired of waiting for a response and started quizzing them, they got right off the phone. They never did get to the debit card stuff. I thought it was quite ironic that they were calling to see how satisfied I was with the service, but when I asked them questions they didn't want any part of it. LOL!!! BTW, I am still waiting on my buyer complaint. That is a VERY slow process. Too slow actually. They are waiting 30 days for a deadbeat seller to respond. Well I have tried to reach this seller for 30 days already. Crazy!!

corksmom-
Other posters here have indicated that a complaint to the Better Business Bureau seemed to help PayPal focus on their problem- you might consider giving it a try.

corksmom, the people who do these calls are most likely give a script, and told they have to complete X number of calls during their shift. Any deviation from that script and they risk getting a bad review for that shift.
Think of it as akin to being angry at your computer because it will not produce nice golden brown, slightly crisp toast for you. When companies treat their employees like machines, we shouldn't be surprised when they act mechanical. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised at all if these were outsourced employees, not Paypal employees. Probably some boiler room in Bombay or New Delhi.
