Paypaldamon: Please help! My husband, who NEVER had a PayPal account, needed to send a conference registration fee using PayPal (that's how the organization preferred payment). He signed up & when it got to inserting his credit card #, the screen said that number was already in use on another account!
We e-mailed customer support, & received the following WITHOUT THE TELEPHONE NUMBER that the e-mail said was listed in the letter.
Dear XXX,
Thank you for contacting PayPal. We apologize for the delay in responding to your service request.
I have listed below our phone, please give us a call and we can look for the PayPal account with the credit card attached.
I apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced. For security, PayPal retains all financial information associated with an account. This also applies if the financial information has been removed from the account. This process is in place as a security measure to help ensure against any possible fraudulent activity of credit card or banking information. To attach the credit card information in question, to a different account the original account must be closed.
Further note that it is possible that you already have an account with another email address to which the mentioned bank account is associated.
It may also be possible that one of your family member has a PayPal account and has registered the mentioned bank account.
In these cases, we suggest you close the related account, and then use the information on the new account.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again.
Sincerely,
Patsy
PayPal Customer Service
Please help us 1) identify who is using my husband's Mastercard number on PayPal (perhaps they made a typo???) 2) give us a real person's telephone # so we can straighten this out.
