A good friend of mine just emailed me the following from the BBB website that people have enjoyed quoting re: Paypal's unsatisfactory rating.
"Our file experience shows that the company has a satisfactory record. To have a satisfactory record with the Bureau, a company must be in business for at least 12 months, properly and promtly address matters referred to it by the Better Business Bureau, and be free from an unusual volume or pattern of complaints and law enforcement action involving its marketplace conduct. In addition, the Bureau must have a clear understanding of the company's business and no concerns about its industry.
PayPal is a third party facilitator for the transfer of monies between individuals or businesses conducting online transactions. Our file experience shows that PayPal has a satisfactory record with the Better Business Bureau. Although an unsatisfactory record was previously reported due to a pattern of complaints, PayPal has taken action as prescribed by the Better Business Bureau to correct the underlying cause of those complaints. As a result, there has been a substantial reduction in a number of complaints received by the Bureau and the pattern has been eliminated. PayPal addresses all complaints brought to its attention by the Bureau and continues to work with the Bureau in evaluating complaints and increasing customer satisfaction."
