Hi all,

We will be implementing some new items tonight, which means the site will be down around 11pm pst. The outage should last about 1.5 hours.

Notification will be on the site, but I thought I would attempt to reduce any frustration.

Many thanks for your patience.

Concerning the outage.

Just a heads up for anyone who might read this. During the last announced PayPal outage my account was hacked big time, to the tune of almost $3,000.

Hi bburd51,

Our system has not been hacked at any point. Did you ever get your issue resolved through the fraud team?

-Did you receive an affidavit about your claim?
-Did you use the same email address/password combination you used at another site?
-Did you enter a link directing you to a site that is not www.paypal.com?
-Did you give your email/password combination to a site asking for your PayPal information?
-Is your password intuitive, such as your email address or name?

These are general guidelines that users must follow (I am posting information about password protection for the benefit of other users reading your post).

paypaldamo,
I am sorry, but it looks to me that during the last outage my account was broken into.

Did you use the same email address/password combination you used at another site? no

Did you enter a link directing you to a site that is not www.paypal.com? no, not as far as I know.

Did you give your email/password combination to a site asking for your PayPal information? no, not as far as I know.

-Is your password intuitive, such as your email address or name? no

Did you receive an affidavit about your claim?
The affidavit/fraud complaint was sent. It was received by PayPal on September 5th. (I sent it certified mail) Even though It has been over a month, I have not received a call back. I have not been informed of what is occurring, my account remains locked. Your rules state that a fraud investigation takes 10 days. If it can not be completed within that time frame, and takes more time to investigate, PayPal must give me access to my funds. They have not. I want my $10.00 that remains in my PayPal account.

The major problem really in not the $10.00, but how your company treats its customers. I have been in the dark since this has happened. The only information comes from the police, none what so ever from PayPal. I hope you see how frustrating this is to customers.

Orginal problem:
Six unauthorized ach transfers from my paypal account to another account which totaled close to $3,000. Another six unauthorized charges to my credit card which totaled $3,000. PayPal customer service unresponsive. Account restricted/locked.

What I had to do:
I reversed the unauthorized ach transfers at the bank by filing affidavits of unauthorized transfers. I reversed unauthorized credit card transactions. Report fraud to police. Report fraud to Equifax, Experian and Trans Union. Closed bank account. Closed credit card account.
PayPal never informed me that I need to do any of the above things in order to protect myself from the fraudent charges. PayPal advised me to filed Paypals fraud report, which I did. I am currently waiting for the findings of the PayPals fraud report.

Current problem:
Received no call back concerning orginal problem. Received no information concerning fraud investigation. My PayPal account had a zero balance when the orginal unauthorized transactions occurred. While the account was restricted, I received a $10.00 payment. Account is currently locked until fraud investigation by PayPal is completed.

Maybe since you was smart enough to reverse all the charges on your end and not wait for paypal to do nothing, your account is locked to teach you a lesson?

You should have come to this board first and complained over and over again until this Damon person steped in and shut you up, I mean help you.

I would put in all my auctions that "I no longer accept paypal payment, any payment sent to this account can not be returned" and maybe a link to a web page explaining why.

Just wait a bit, I'm sure Damon will be back asking if you will please send the information to him so he can help you. You will probaly have access to you account in no time.

glasshappy.

I happened upon these forums by accident and learned how to protect my self. I am very thankful for the many individuals who took the time to post their problems and the best way to resolve their PayPal nightmares here at Auctionwatch. The reason I am now posting is for the unlucky individuals who find themseves in the same sitution. I hope that my experience might be of help to someone.

Unfortunately, I emailed paypaldamon prior to coming here. I received two past and cut responses. No help. The chance has come and gone for PayPal to shut me up. At this point I do not wish for any help from either PayPal or paypaldamon. I do wish to pass alone my experience to others who are having a difficult time with PayPals customer service.

I do not do auctions, so that is not a problem.
