I was trying to register to SEND $$ to a seller - did not want to register as Seller! Oce I singed in, it tells me I have unclaimed $ - it is mone I told buyers to cancel as I do NOT want to register as a buyer! There was no way for me to now refuse that money in the account because with a confirmed address as buyer, it gives me the money! That would be fraud my part to take payment! Sofinally I figure close the account -- well now that tells me PayPal is MAILING me a check minus fees! DO NOT SEND THE CHECK!! HELP!!!!!!! Thisis crazy! I should be able to refuse this -- and you should not be holding money for me if I do not to belong to PayPal as a seller! You should have refused to take money if I was not registered!

Hi bonval,
The post is really not clear to me. Can you please re-phrase your concerns?
Accounts can receive/send money once they are opened. There is no distinction between a buyer/seller account and accepting money...the process is the same, but fees are charged depending on account type.
If you opened an account for sending money, you were making it possible for the account to accept money.
Please feel free to clarify, as I would like to advise.

I was attempting to register in order to send $ to a seller. I am also a seller but choose NOT to use PayPal for my auctions! In registering to send money a window opened saying I have money in my now confirmed PayPal account -- I do NOT want to have buyers send me payment via PayPal! I looked for a link to refuse those payments to me and could find nothing but cloe the account -- when I closed it, a new window said I will be mailed a check less PayPal fees! It would be fraud to take a double payment from my customers -- I told them to cancel those payments already! Please find some way of canceling the payment to me - I do not want to get into needing to return checks to PayPal or to customers! All I originally wanted to do was send soe=meone else a payment - now I know for sure I will not use PayPal as a seller either with all this mess.

Hi bonval,
I am not trying to sound rude, but this was created by your misinterpretation of how the service works (or your buyers just assumed that you accepted PayPal and paid you).
If the account has been closed, and a check has been issued, there is nothing I can do to stop the process. The payments have been accepted into your account and can't be canceled by your buyers. (The other option, if you did not close the account, was to send the money back to the buyers and ask them to send money in your approved methods.)
Checks generally arrive within 5-14 days from the date that the account was closed.

I just tried to register for the first time today -- I have no idea when or who this money is from! It was already there according to PayPal! I was not told that in registering to send money to someone, this would open a can of worms -- if I was told upfront, I would not have registered! There was no link to any place to refuse or cancel payments made to me by unknown or known buyers! This money does not belong to me is the point!!!

This is a known problem with PayPal as many will tell you.
You will have to pay to send that person back their money. Better yet let them charge back their credit card and let PayPal try to get it out of you. If you find out they were not smart enough to use a credit card to get funds then go ahead and send it back and feel sorry for them.

The Lane Family writes
"Better yet let them charge back their credit card and let PayPal try to get it out of you.
Jim"
Wow! This is incredible to me that anyone would post a recommendation to commit felony fraud on a bulletin board. I wonder how many malcontents would be incarcerated if the FBI would prosecute fraud as vigorously as child-snatching.
If it is not a chargeback, then don't file a chargeback. Making up stories to get money is plainly fraud.

You need a new definition for that 'f' word you are using.
Main Entry: fel·o·ny
Pronunciation: 'fe-l&-nE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -nies
Date: 14th century
1 : an act on the part of a feudal vassal involving the forfeiture of his fee
2 a : a grave crime formerly differing from a misdemeanor under English common law by involving forfeiture in addition to any other punishment b : a grave crime declared to be a felony by the common law or by statute regardless of the punishment actually imposed c : a crime declared a felony by statute because of the punishment imposed d : a crime for which the punishment in federal law may be death or imprisonment for more than one year
A buyer paid for a item, money clearly gone from account. Never received produce. Charge Back Credit card. Probably happens hundreds of times a day. No 'f' words in there.
PayPal sends a person a check they did not ask for. As long as they did not cash the check I see no 'f' word in there.
You can argue all you want that since the person signed up for a few minutes they have to follow the PayPal rules but I can argue differently. there are so many holes in there. I bet, but have not looked, ther is no clause in there about money already being accepted in your name befor you are a member. Don't bother with crap about not it is not. That is so weak it would not hold up.
By the way the definition quoted is from www.webester.com
