Your account has been restricted for violating PayPal's
Terms of Use regarding the receipt or withdrawal of funds.
Anyone know what this means? A business associate of mine has a paypal account (doesn't have an AW account though) and received this from paypal today. New one to me!

cybercomputing,
I wish your friend the best of luck in dealing with PayPal's customer service. I think it also means friend will receive cut and past responses to emails, unreturned phone calls and a major problem getting help. Again, good luck to your friend.

If your friend has paypal instant purchase tell him to take them out of his auction. Otherwise paypal will continue to accept payments to his account.

The good thing is he doesn't have any money in the account (got it all out 2 days before it happened). He doesn't use instant purchase/etc ..so he's pretty safe with that ..just wondering what the reason is. Damon is out of town, not that he will help ..i've had problems in the past with them and don't use them really anymore ...waste of time/etc ...if you want to deal with credit cards, get a merchant account, atleast they will "side" with you and help you out. THanks again .. ANy other comments welcome!

Sorry, they won't do that. There are some differences, but "side with you" is far from among them, and "help you out" requires counting some pretty minor help.

I currently have a merchant account, when a chargeback arrises they give me a lot more assistance in preventing it from going through, and out of the 10 chargesbacks i've had come through, NONE of them have been debited from my account because we were in the right. Anything is better than paypal, who suspends your account and takes the money in it without question.

Sounds quite a bit better than some pretty minor help. I wonder how many PayPal sellers have been able to defend themselves against 10 out of 10 chargebacks...

cybercomputing,
How is your friend doing with his restricted account. Has PayPal taken care of the problem?

They want copy's of his Drivers License and bank account statements .. He just told them nevermind he doesn't want to do business with them anymore .. There wasn't any money in the account .. So i guess it doesn't really matter ... Lame service .. I just obtained a merchant account (second one actually ...this one for internet transactions/etc) so i definately won't be doing business with Paypal ...
