Need some help regarding unclaimed funds.

My girlfriend sent money via Paypal however the receipant did not ACCEPT the funds. They are left unclaimed. Now they claim they do not know how to return the funds to her and are being exteremly unhelpful .

Reason for this is they agreed on a price for an item them someone offered more even after she had sent the money so they backed out and sold it to the other person who nice of them. A deak is a deal well in my book anyway.

Can she cancel the transaction? I remember when I used paypal you could hit cancel if the seller had not accepted funds appears this feature has gone.

Damon can you help? I told her she can simply chargeback but even though the seller is not being very helpful I have a conscience and don't want to freeze up the seller account (speaking from experience nightmare to unfreeze).

Comments / Help appreciated.

This happened to me a long time ago. If I remember right you should be able to go to your Acct. and cancel the transaction. As long as it's still not completed.

Hi,

Yes, they should be able to go to the account HISTORY. If it is "UNCLAIMED", then they should be able to reverse it on their own.

The other option (if they are having issues) is the seller would have to deny the payment.

thanks well i told my gf to tell the seller either refuse the funds or she will chargeback and their account would probably be restricted....that seemed to work!!!

Also told her to point them to these boards just in case she thought she was lying!

If a payment is 'unclaimed' that means the seller hasn't accepted the funds and your girlfriend hasnt been charged for anything..... there wouldnt be anything to chargeback or reverse.

It used to be that the unclaimed payments would drop off after 30 days, but maybe for some reason it is taking longer.

Your girlfriend should also be able to cancel an unclaimed payment.
