I have just paid for an auction using my PayPal balance (again) I looked all over the page to use a dfferent payment option and couldnt find it! I do have a credit card and checking account on file. I do believe PayPal knows my life story too-lol Just where the heck is the options for paying by different methods? I looked everywhere! I really dont want to keep not having a choice in which funds I use. Thanks!

If the amount you are sending is less than your current PayPal balance you don't have an payment option (which appears on the confirmation screen before you send the money). They will use your PayPal balance when it is available.
There is a 'trick' around this though. You can send your PayPal balance to a non-existant account, preferrably one of your email addresses that isn't registered with your PayPal account. Your balance goes to zero in an unclaimed payment and the next payment gives you the payment options. After you've made the payment using the payment option of your choice you then cancel the dummy payment to the non-existant PayPal account, and your balance is intantly back to its original state.
If that doesn't make sense that's okay, I'm still 3 cups of coffee from being totally awake.

Thank you- that makes perfect sense! I figured there was a way 'around' the payment option dilema. When you use your balance and not a credit card there is alot less you can do if a seller doesnt live up to their end of the bargain. Excellent advice!
