PayPal has placed my account on limited access 2 weeks ago. They said they needed additional information faxed in, even after I confirmed my bank account and credit card. I faxed everything in right away and waited and waited and waited. I decided to call them to see what the hold up was because they are holding $2k of mine which is greatly needed right now not to mention it has lost many sales for me in the meantime. They told me that there was a problem with my name. The bank account statement and credit card statement that I faxed in have my real name on it which doesn't match my mispelled name on PayPal. Let me explain. I sell over a 100 items a week and I didn't want people looking up my home phone number from my name on paypal (I get calls like "Just wanted to make sure you received my payment" "When will you ship?" etc.) just to ask me stupid questions. I wanted it to remain e-mail based. Now they are complaining about how my statements that I faxed in don't have the same name as my paypal account. My name is mispelled in a minor way on PayPal. Now they have $2000 on hold and they still haven't responded to me. It's been over 2 weeks now and I don't know what to do. Everytime I call they give me attitude and we can never get anywhere. They've even hung up on me. I've tried e-mailing them but I get no responses. I loved paypal when I first started using it but now it turned into a nightmare. Please help me.

if you have the name mispelled deliberately and so far so good, why does paypal ask for your id now??
it is possible someone filed a chargeback or launched a complaint against you??
the more i read ,the more i realise why retail stores are set up the way they are-a registered name to do business as,a physical address-storefront with phone numbers listed, business hours and staff .
we all like to sell on ebay and like the money we collect but we dont want to be bothered with the less pleasant side of retail business, retail business is very tedious and customers can be a big pain in you know where.
there are very few business which can get away with no phone inquiry,it comes with the territory.
long distance phone calls do cost the customer,if they have to call you, they must be concerned with their orders,do you ship promptly??

See, that's what I don't understand. I verified my bank account and credit card within the first week of opening my paypal account. A few weeks later they put my account on limited access asking for more information. I have not had a complaint on my account nor a chargeback (atleast one that I am aware of).
As far as shipping. I ship using Priority Mail and I usually ship the same day I receive the order.
This really sucks though. I've lost so much business these past couple weeks because my account is limited.

Among the reasons an account can be restricted:
"Name on the bank account associated with the PayPal account does not match the name on the PayPal account"
Under User Responsibilities:
"Registration Information. You agree to provide true, accurate and complete registration information and to maintain and promptly update your information as applicable. You agree not to impersonate any other person or use a name that you are not authorized to use. If any information you provide is untrue, inaccurate, not current, or incomplete, without limiting other remedies, PayPal has the right to terminate your use of the Service and PayPal, its agents, suppliers, and subcontractors have the right to recover from you any costs or losses incurred as a direct or indirect result of the inaccurate or incomplete information.
You authorize PayPal, directly or through third parties, to make any inquiries we consider necessary to validate your registration. This may include ordering a credit report and performing other credit checks or verifying the information you provide against third party databases."
So that explains the "why this happened".

they want to make sure the money is legit.
you have lost your credibility by screwing around with your name on paypal account,so they want to know there are no nasty surprises coming.

Damon probably won't answer your e-mail until Monday since he doesn't work on weekends, so that would explain why he hasn't been responding (if you sent your mail this weekend or Friday).

how about getting an unlisted phone number? Will probably be in the phone book for awhile before it drops off, but sounds easier than all the name change stuff.
