The other day I had listed 253 auctions using a bulk loader.

Normally Yahoo billing Dept would push a single $1 authorization I guess for card validation.

This time I found over 200+ individual $1 authorizations.

I used my paypal debit card for billing.

This cause my paypal debit card to be frozen.

It was quite embarrassing since I went to the post office not knowing my card was frozen. The postal clerks there know me and since I walk there I only bring my packages and my paypal debit card, no wallet or ID let alone other cards...... $45 in postage later the card declines......of course it was closing time.... I was abslutely MORTIFIED!!!

Since they knew I lived a block away they let me run home and get my wallet. Otherwize they would have had to hunt all my packages down, peel off the postage and give them all back to me. The postal clerk could not closer her drawer either. I ran home got money, came back and didn't keep the clerk waiting too long.

I use the same paypal debit card to pay my EBAY bill. It too was declined since it was locked.

I emailed my auction management company they said it wasn't on their end. I had used them to launch to Yahoo many times without issues anyways

I emailed Yahoo billing....no response

So WTF happened here??? I have used Yahoo auctions for 3 years now and have never seen this craziness.

This also held in floating authorizations over $200 OF MY F***ING MONEY and I had to wait 11 days to get it all back when the authorizations expired.

I loved Yahoo and always supported them but I can't loan them $200+ every 10 days so I can sell a few $ worth of stuff.

I am afraid to list anything else right now.

Is this happening to anyone else?

There was a thread in the ebay outlook forum the other day about a PP user going to a gas station with his PP debit card and PP hiting the card for an extra refundable $75 as a form of insurance for the gas station.

This glitch of yours sounds either like Yahoo hitting you an unnecessary $1 per auction or Paypal charging an unnecessary $1 refundable insurance-like payment to Yahoo. From what I can make out from the ebay outlook thread is that a debit card is not treated like a true credit card in all aspects. Some vendors such as that gas station or Yahoo may treat it in a special manor and demand an extra refundable payment drawn from card till payment clears. A poster in that thread noted that when a person uses a credit card to reserve a hotel room that the hotel requests a much larger amount of money from the credit card company than a one night stay at the hotel. It is similar to that in a way.
That was probably as clear-as-mud but you can read the thread in the other AW form. After reading it the first time and reading your post here I am convinced that I never want a PP debit card.

I would also avoid paypal like the plague. I read the thread tooltimes talked about, and it seems your problem is with paypal. I would never want a debit card of any kind. You have more protection with a credit card. I hope the problem is fixed for you quickly.

I don't think it is a paypal issue.....

On yahoo when I would manually relist auctions it would push a $1 authorization. If I took a break and came back later to relist more an hour later or so I'd get another $1 card validation for the 2nd session. that wasn't a big deal.

But this was a batch of $200+ $1 authorizations all within a space of minutes. All of them labeled Yahoo billing.

I don't even fault paypal for locking my account temporarily (when I called them they fixed my account instantly). It was just embarrassing trying to use my card not knowing what happened with yahoo billing.

I've never had a problem with paypal in nearly 3 years.

I love PayPal too. It's debit cards that are the problem and they are not full-fledged credit cards. I wouldn't be surprised to find that Yahoo intentionally adds the buck to PayPal cards purchases because they are their competition.
If you can use a regular credit card at Yahoo it will be a lot easier.

I think this is a yahoo problem. I transfered what I thought would be enough to cover my yahoo bill, into my internet bank account. A few days later, I get a notice from yahoo that my card was declined. I thought that perhaps it could have been due to an address change that I made recently so I went to re-verify my visa/check card at Yahoo. When the change was made, it had processed 3 $1 charges to my account. Looks like for some reason, Yahoo's credit card processor is messed up and repeating functions. Hope they straighten it out soon.

It's the paypal debit card causing the problem. I use a regular credit card for all of my Yahoo transaction and never have a problem. Dump the paypal debit card, get you money out and your trouble will be over.

The card I was using was not a paypal card, so the problem is Yahoo.

Was it a debit card only? I've never had a problem with my regular credit card on Yahoo but there's always lots of cash in my bank credit card.
If Yahoo is debiting a buck a listing on regular credit cards then it's a very serious glitch.

I listed items yesterday, and no problem at all. It must have something to do with debit cards.

The card I was using was a Visa/Check card, so perhaps that was the problem. I'll wait a few days or so, and try it again and see what happens this time.

Hi All

NO , this isnot a paypal thing , this is definitely a Yahoo thing .
The same thing happened to us when we decided a few days ago to go BACK to yahoo as sellers .
We use to sell there , however, it got so rediculous over there we stopped .

Yahoo apparently puts a 1.00 authorization on your card every time you do anything over there .
When we registered ( as usual ) there was a 1.00 singe authorization put on our visa ( not debit ) a regular visa credit card .

Now this is what sort of first ticked us off here ...

Then after the entire registration process we went to submit an auction then a notice popped up asking us for that 3 digit number on the back .... ( heck they should have asked for that during the registration ) ... now , after that we got to the form and entered the 3 digit number and noticed another 1.00 authorization there .
Afterwards for every auction we put up they authorized the dang card 1.00 !

We got ticked and stopped at 5 auctions and decided ... Its just yahoo up to there same ole tricks which ran most original sellers away from that hell hole in the first place .

We're NOT putting anymore auctions in over there .

As for the person who has 200 + authorizations from these jerks ... You CAN have them ALL removed with a phone call to your card company or bank ... if need be ask for a supervisor or a person in an authoritative position and explain the situationto them ... they all do have the capability to remove that stuff immediately !

If need be be persistent ... this does take some time if there are a lot of em and some persons are lazy and don't want to do all of that . (will probably take about 20 - 25 mins to delete 200 or so )

As for how we know so much about removing yahoo's authorizations ... this is something they were actually pulling on the sellers a while ago .
Heck and to think we thought things had changed over there ... NOT !!!

I can see how and why this had you soooo F***ING ticked ... remeber this also ...

Emailing yahoo about anything is a JOKE especially something thats wrong and in there favor ...

Keep this in mind , if you have ANY further probs ... Yahoo has an 800 number that they donot list at there webite site you'll have to get it from information ( dont have it with me at present )... the next time ... CALL them ... you'll get results then after you back them jerks in a corner especailly if ya casually mention ... you may talk to the PRESS !

I listed auctions daily this week, and I had no problems at all. I will check over at yahoo and see if anyone else is having problems.

No trouble here either. Looks like a bidville reject is jealous of the only alternative to ebay.

The 10 days came and went and I did get my $200+ back in my paypal account.

But I can't afford to loan them that much every 10 days.

I'm affraid to list there now considering I gotta pay my Ebay bill off that debit card lol. I have a regular following of customers there (I currently sell MTG there)

Not to sound paranoid, but maybe it wouldn't hurt to delay your listing on Yahoo until after the Ebay fees come through. 8)

That'd give 30 days for the holds to come off before Ebay'd need more $.

Didn't have that problem with the last 2 batches I uploaded - maybe it was a one time fluke??

I checked over at yahoo and there are no threads about it. If it were a widespread problem other sellers would have complained. I cant see how the yahoo billing system would charge $1.00 for each item when listed.

Really if you noticed that prior to going to the post office all that is needed is to call Yahoo customer service and they would take care of it. They have help me everytime their system screwed up and I use PP Debit card all the time, never had any extra charges such as referred to here.

It is good business practice to have backup plans in place. I always have a credit card, ATM card, and some spare emergency cash for situations like this.
