There has been much talk here lately about how much $$ Yahoo really makes on auctions, and the fact they have changed many services from fee to free. Well here is an idea that would help the revenue stream and that I think sellers would be happy with.

Instead of YSM being a free tool (not there's anything wrong with that), add full EOM transaction ability to the program (mainly the ability to e-mail winning bidders with their item details from the program) and charge $5/month for its use. The (2) main reasons I haven't been using YSM are (1) can't use it as an all-in-one tool, and (2) can't use the 14-day listing option. I can live without the 14-day option if I could use this program to handle post-sale processing and would gladly send some money Yahoo's way to do so.

Anyone else that would like to see this?

Sounds like a good way to make some extra money. The bulk loader users get a huge bonus in those 4 extra days so why not get a few extra bucks from them?

emak its a great idea, but unlike ebay yahoo isnt fee crazy. I think this will help them down the road.

BW,

Aren't you the one who has complimented Yahoo on their switch to fee services and the additional income it has added?

Nobody is claiming Yahoo is trying to be ebay, but I'd think this would add some decent income to their auction site, which means it sticks around, which means I'm happy.

emak I dont think you understood my post. Ebay is money hungry and charges for every feature they have(10 day auction, BIN, more than one photo, etc). Yahoo on the other hand does not. I was thrilled when yahoo got rid of the hundreds of thousands of recipe cards, ads, etc. What you said would be a great revenue source, but yahoo doesnt seem to like charging for these features. My opinion is down the road keeping the 14 day listings free could help them compete with ebay.

And yahoo auctions isnt going anywhere. The new design is a huge step in the right direction. Listing on yahoo is much easier than ebay, and the showcase auctions are doing very well. The halloween showcase has over 50% of items with bids.
