Maybe they could promote their auctions a little more too?

I doubt they put much more money into the auctions tooltimes. If they could not compete with ebay being free, how can they do it with fees? I would never want them to become free again or the junk would be back in a few days. Remember only 10-15% of yahoos 2.6 million auctions were quality. One million was recipes and ads, and the rest went to bidville and other 3rd tier sites. They wont pull the plug, but its basically a service for yahoo users.

How much is a Yahoo Shop? Last time I looked the Yahoo Stores were far too expensive.

$50 per month + $0.10 per item per month.

With my inventory, I figured it would be around $2000.00 a month.

I don't think so!

Yahoo auctions are costing me less then 10 bucks a month and sales couldn't be better. The small listing fees have kept the bidville crap off and the buyers are eating up the quality items.

It sound like Yahoo Stores are not the way to go for most sellers. I wonder why they even bother to offer them.

They should use yahoo stores as a model for the auction site and set up a monthly membership fee, or they should eliminate the stores and let the goods on the auction site. Auctions would be much cheaper for sellers than the store.

yahoo store is 49.95 plus 10 cents per item per month,1/2% processing fee for order and additional 3 1/2% if order coming thru yahoo network.
it is more suitable for either high end antiques and colletibles or new items which you can drop ship or reorder from the manufacturer.
to open a yahoo shop, you must have a merchant account, and paymentech is what they recommend ,which has a fee of 2x.95 a month plus a minimum discount fee of 15 dollars per month, term is to have a contract of at least 6 months.
i heard paymentech has raised its discount fee and lengthen the time it takes to deposit the proceeds to your bank account.
yahoo shoppers tend to be professional, affluent middle class who do not nick pick like ebay bidders and many of them come looking to give gifts and will ask you to send gifts ,so it is a good idea to offer gift wrap.
another attraction is that it gets corporations and businesses coming to look for corporate gifts.
a yahoo shop could cost you money up front-some use designers to design their shops, many use google and overture for pay per clicks.
overrall, you need to add all these to your listed prices else you could find out you make no money.
final word-CREDIT CARD FRAUD IS RAMPANT .coming from all over-indonesia,nigeria,usa,canada,uk/
when you receive an order, check the information carefully especially when it comes to cc data and the AVS codes returned.
use reverse phone lookup to see if phone number and addr jive, call if necessary and talk to them on the phone, many will use cell phone which cannot be traced from address lookup.
you can get some interesting inquires and orders, one israeli merchant comes to nyc to talk business and need some sample electronic goods for a meeting ,he wants the samples to be shipped to the hotel he is staying,of course AVS system cannot verify israel address,so you need to chat with him in his hotel room.
it can be rewarding and it can be profitable,of course you could lose your shirt due to fraudulent orders.
