chococake Barry is OK, he posted on his board. He's just very angry and upset, like most of us.

Watching Peter Jennings and a reporter interviewed Sen. Biden. He did a great job of handling the questions and asked everyone to be calm. He wanted Congress to return ASAP and get back to normal operations and start working on this problem. As he said, any break in our usual way of life gives the terrorists what they want. He said we are a strong, capable nation and we wil deal with this tragedy.
In my opinion, he did what the President should be doing: showing his face, acting in control, and calling for calm and rational action. Where is that dim bulb? He's still flying around trying to decide where to go to be safe! I'm totally disgusted at his actions.
Busy, right on!

I'm sorry if you thought that was offensive. But, the fact remains he has alignated all countries with his separatist ideas. The question I was asking was will these countries again stand by us after we pulled away from them, and wouldn't sign treaties.
I know right now the important thing is right here at home, but we have to look at the broader picture about where we stand and who stands with us. If the government couldn't protect New York what about the rest of the US. Think about it! We are all in danger now, and I don't feel safe with Bush in control. DO YOU?

I wonder how the plane that hit the Pentagon got into that airspace. That is Class B airspace, the most restricted.
The other oddities are the two planes that hit the towers. One was flying from Boston to L.A. What flight path would bring that plane to NYC? The other plane left from Dulles en route to L.A. and it too made it's way to the city.
I guess it's such a short flight that by the time the air controllers said, "Hey, what the hell are you doing?" it was too late.
I'm not armchairing, I'm living this here and now and wracked with emotion.

But let's wait a while before discussing this administration. Right now, all our thoughts should be focussed on those suffering.
On an other note, those of us who have "shipping pending" might want to contact our customers, so they do not feel abandoned....We have enough problems, without adding on more!

From what I saw on TV, in a reenactment provided by a company that created it using radar records of today's morning flights, the Boston - LA flight was up over western Massachusetts, maybe just over the New York border, when it suddenly turned south and began the death run towards New York City.

What I want to know is HOW someone could take over an airplane and turn it, with the captain in control, with the crew aboard, turn a huge plane to aim it at WTC. And the other one, at the Pentagon. Needless to say, that will all come out eventually. Right now, Im thinking about the people trapped in the rubble..and hope like hell they can get to the ones still alive.

They just said they got the black boxes from both planes that hit the WTC.
We may get to the bottom of this pretty quickly.

I don't want to get into a debate over whether are not anyone likes Bush or not. That is the least of our concerns today, but I must point out that he was NOT president when the WTC was first bombed in '93, or when the 2 embassies were bombed.
Right now, the secret service and political advisors are arguing over where the president should be....NORAD or D.C. NORAD was built just for this reason, in the 60's, during the cold war. I think it is funny that the press is upset that no one knows where the pres is, but, that's the way it's suppose to be. He is a possible target, and the secret service's main job is to keep him safe from possible assassination.
I think it is time to get serious about finding Bin Ladin & taking out some of these terrorists.
And, what have we done that people are so happy that they are dancing in the streets?

Of all the horror of this morning's events, the one photo which did me in was to see the body, leaping out off the top of the tower!...I do not understand why that hit home so much harder...no rhyme or reason...it just did, and I fell apart...

Our news said that as many as 50,000 people may have died. That is nearly as many as died in the whole VietNam war. This is an act of war.People here are donating blood to be sent to NY. The city here is virtualy shut down as well. This is the saddest day.

Im thinking any country that protects whomever is responsible will be the target of those same people for "betraying" them if they turn them in. So whomever is keeping them safe better think twice.

Time to bring out the scorched earth policy of all out war. They may be dancing in the streets now, but I want to see them begging on their knees for mercy before the year is out.....
And President Bush is not a target, that would leave Cheney in charge.....That would be their worst nightmare.

Well, we better take quick & decisive action once we discover who is responsible. If we don't, we'll find ourselves the target of other jumped-up terrorists in the future.
Personally, I'm for wiping their butts off the face of the earth.

A simple bombing run of B-52's lined up wing tip to wing tip over Afganistan would wipe the smile of triumph off their face. They have no weapons in their arsenal that could touch them and the destruction would be incredible!

Palestinians don't think as one any more than Americans do. I'm sure plenty of them are as horrified at this as the folks here are.

Shosh,
I've been watching the coverage all day and haven't seen any footage or photos of jumpers.
I did see one piece of news footage showing what looked like a jumper falling from the tower, but was actually a person-sized piece of flexible debris that fell spinning and turning much like a body would.

Just for once, for crissake, I would like to see politics dispensed with, if only until this crisis has passed. If we cannot present a united front against a common enemy, I truly wonder what will become of us.

I was off-line for awhile. I just wanted to thank those of you who expressed concern earlier concerning my hubby. He did confirm that the Submarine Base in Groton, CT had been on such a high alert that they were not letting anyone on or off the base. That means people trying to get on the base could not and people that were already on the base could not leave. But that lasted for about 30-45 minutes or so. He first heard of all of the NYC and Washington DC stuff after returning to his building or office after a call (he repairs computers on the base) and within 30 minutes was told by his boss that they would most likely be sent home. But then they were not allowed to leave the base for awhile. Then when he did leave, it is about a 25-30 minute drive home. By the time my email was working I heard him pull into the driveway. I don't think he was in any real danger. I probably overreacted. Unsure if you can overreact to something like this. Before this happened you just don't think stuff like this can happen but after this happened then you begin to think that anything can happen. So maybe I didn't overreact but I feel a little paranoid.
I saw some posts on this board from people living close to these areas and I'm glad you are all okay. My local TV station was showing Palistinians celebrating and cheering and they kept playing the same scenes over and over. I had to change the channel cuz it made me feel ill. Even the kids were celebrating. So sad that the kids are taught to do stuff like that. By the way, I'm not Antelope67 on ebay, just on AW and a non-auction related website. I'm gonna get off the internet soon and lie down for awhile. I feel a bit overwhelmed with all that happened today. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone right now.
