There is ANOTHER plane heading towards the Pentagon? Geeze! This is NOT good at all! My husband is retired Coast Guard but he is currently working as a civilian over at the Naval Submarine Base. I hope he doesn't get caught up in something somehow.

For some reason I can receive emails but cannot send any. Anyone else having this trouble? I wanted to email my husband and see if he is okay. He is a civilian working at a military base and I'm concerned (we are only about 3 hours from NYC by car). If that plane came from Boston it probably passed right over here on it's way to NYC. Very scary. We just never think something like this can or will happen here.

Femme, I am not sure. He may be okay but not at his desk, so even if I could email him, I may not get an answer. I'm sure security is very tight on the Navy Submarine Base at the moment.

This is very unreal. My mind can't really comprehend it all and refuses to take it all in. I feel like I've been drugged or something or am stuck in a horrible nightmare and can't get out. I'm wondering what will happen now? Obviously it happened and we can't turn back the clock but how is this going to affect our near future? Some schools here in CT are being released early. A while back I thought I heard a jet fly over our place at a fairly low altitude. Probably military (I hope). I had a dream within the last year that a passenger jet went down in the woods near my neighborhood. I pray it doesn't actually happen. There just seems to be so much going on right now. One of these things was bad enough but then ya hear about something else, and something else and it just doesn't stop. It is sooo overwhelming! Like others on this board I also feel very helpless. My prayers are with everyone.

Some good news. My outbox finally emptied. Hopefully the email reaches my hubby. Maybe his email is out. I know there are a lot of people on the internet and using email. The system probably got overwhelmed with the traffic. I'll keep you posted. I'm not gonna post the auctions that I was planning for today. Just too upset and can't focus on auctions. They are suddenly very trivial and unimportant to me. Have some ending today to deal with but won't list any knew ones today.
Thank you for your concern hepburn & Femme. My hubby and I have been married for 12 years and we are VERY close. Inseparable!
OOOOHHHH!!! My hubby just pulled in the driveway!!!

Some of the airliners that where still in the air are landing safely In Grand Rapids Michigan. Some of the passengers where supose to be on the flights that took the Trade Buliding out changed their minds at the last min and took other flights. Thank GOD they are all OK I weep for the ones we lost and I pray for their family's.
Antelope I am GLAD your hubby is home and safe

This is so unbelievable. I'm waiting to hear about a long time friend of mine who lives in NYC, I'm not sure if he lives/works in Manhatten or not.
What really gets me is that my husband and I just decided (kinda 'spur of the moment') on Saturday night to go to NYC at the end of the month to see "The Fantastiks" before it closes. I've never been there, but my husband has been twice. He's been telling me how wonderful the city is for the past 2 days. Wow...

What makes me really ill, is thinking of the people on those flights.
First, the terror one would experience from being hijacked.
And then, if not before, at least the last few seconds, the knowledge of what was about to take place before impact.

Hi dejapooh. I like your UserName! My husband is retired from the Coast Guard but like a lot of people we can't make it on just his retirement so he got another job to suppliment. He ended up with a civilian job at a military base (Navy Submarine Base) fixing computers (hardware and software related stuff). I was unsure if maybe after the terrorist distracted all our military planes etc. off the military bases all over America, if the military bases would then become targets or something. He did get off work early yesterday but could not leave the base as security was at maximum. They were not letting anyone on or off the base and so he was stuck there. Meanwhile my email could not send messages, only receive them. Umm, I posted a message on another thread yesterday afternoon cuz I forgot which thread I had been posting on earlier yesterday. Here is part of it:
-------------------------------------------
I was off-line for awhile. I just wanted to thank those of you who expressed concern earlier concerning my hubby. He did confirm that the Submarine Base in Groton, CT had been on such a high alert that they were not letting anyone on or off the base. That means people trying to get on the base could not and people that were already on the base could not leave. But that lasted for about 30-45 minutes or so. He first heard of all of the NYC and Washington DC stuff after returning to his building or office after a call (he repairs computers on the base) and within 30 minutes was told by his boss that they would most likely be sent home. But then they were not allowed to leave the base for awhile. Then when he did leave, it is about a 25-30 minute drive home. By the time my email was working I heard him pull into the driveway. I don't think he was in any real danger. I probably overreacted. Unsure if you can overreact to something like this. Before this happened you just don't think stuff like this can happen but after this happened then you begin to think that anything can happen. So maybe I didn't overreact but I feel a little paranoid.
----------------------------------------
His boss called him this morning and only authorized personel are allowed on the base, so he has today off. It would most likely be very difficult to get on and off anyway with them doing ID checks and so forth. They've been known to do ID checks for other reasons and traffic can sit in line at the gate for 30 minutes or more.
