What's the funniest thread or funniest post that you can recall here on AW?

CONTENDER FOR FUNNIEST THREAD:

Bubblewrap thread (summer of 1999) and the fierce controversy which ensued as to whether bubbles should be turned "in" or "out" when packing merchandise.

CONTENDER FOR FUNNIEST POST:

A post by Pocono in a thread about the excuses given by deadbeat buyers. I don't have the gift for storytelling that Pocono has, but I believe the gist of the excuse for non-payment was that the buyer's wallet fell into his fish tank and his fish ate it.

(I wish I could post links, but last January all threads in the EO and RT prior to June or July 2000 were deleted from the AW database.)

My vote goes to just about anything with which Jerry12 (or is it 13?) is associated. Wildly funny man.
As individuals go, I'd give Gravid a few thumbs-up for the belly-laughs he has provided. I am still laughing over "Ding dong anyone home?"
Ya had to be there...

krs makes me laugh, so does KatyD at her most acerbic. Hisshead rolls me across the floor. Spaz's puns always make me miss my Grandfather Nebula5's "tourist" gifs were priceless.
Ah, hell, Stockticker, there are too many funny people here for me to narrow them down
into a "best of" opinion. Everyone -- at one time or another -- has made me laugh out loud (although not always intentionally...)

There have been so many laughs that I could never pick anything in particular.

Spaz comes up with some goodies, as does JamesO.

But, the ones who make me laugh the most are KRS and Antiquary. Especially when they exchange comebacks with each other. They are both so quick.

I did something today I have rarely done. I reviewed some old threads.

In one thread, I awarded Antiquary 4 smilies. He was the first to receive that rare award when I was handing them out. It was for an exchange between he and KRS, of course.

When I have time, I will try to find it. (Probably not tonight).

Hope others are able to trigger some funny memories.

Must be going braindead. I'm making too many mistakes.

Godsmessenger when he answered people on one of Kraftdinner's threads.

Jerry12 and the penis pump and the beaniebabies and the cow.

DrBeetle's troll thread

Lately, reading a couple of Donny's posts while I was drinking coffee got me to christen my new keyboard.

Irene, I think that you should write a book!

There are so many and almost every poster
here has made several...sometimes unintended.

I'm usually laughing every day but I can't choose the best...

LOL at a Pattaylor book.

How could I have forgotten Barry(one of a kind)Barris? The twin of Sean, and then there was a thread with an ebay auction to blow up a bridge (that one got WOMD'd)....

DoctorBettle:

You were great in that thread and so was Fashion (Annie). It was one of her last appearances at AW if I recall.

I also wanted to apologize to you. Some months later you were upset and started a thread on the EO (ranting against trolls I believe). I was feeling a little bit devilish that day, and promptly posted a link to your troll thread. I think that took the wind out of your sails. For what it's worth, I thought it was a magnificent rant while it lasted.

Thank you, Femme; that's a high compliment coming from you.

The wit and various forms of humor on these forums over the last 4 years have been truly remarkable. Literally hundreds of posters, many just passing through or short-lived on the boards, have contributed hilarious comments. Most of the posters whose humor I most appreciate I've indicated to them directly or indirectly.

The bubblewrap thread, Irene, that Ken began was one of the first totally funny threads at AW, though there had been some great posts and short interplays before then. But I don't think that it's ended quite yet.

Spaz LOL. Just saw the charming depiction. I'm the one on the right by the way.

DAN! I've been wanting to run into you on a thread! Wanted to let you know that I'm teaching third grade (inclusion) and am so thrilled with my position I can barely stand myself. I never knew teaching could be this wonderful!

I was hoping that I would get to see you. I am absolutely delighted that everything worked out so well and that you are enjoying yourself. There is nothing in the world more rewarding than successful teaching.

Edited to add that I am a slight bit prejudicial however.
Also, please excuse the sappy similies-Lol

Perfect, Spaz, just perfect.

Antiquary,

I'm the one on the right by the way.

So, that would mean the crabby one on the left would be...

Fashion came up with some good lines.

Yes, to Jerry12, whoever he was.

When you think about it, a lot of people have come and gone over the years.

Just in reviewing threads from the early part of this year, I noticed a lot of those names no longer here.

Yup! Thought I'd stake my claim before he returns. The one on the right is also much younger. Bad lighting on that side.

Fashion came up with some good lines.

Those of us who were here then will never forget Annie. Admirable style.

Ricketylin:

My favorite of those exchanges was the final one between the two protagonists (many months later). Both Glenda and Hellcat were in top form, politely sending out zingers towards each other, with the moderator visibly hovering. I wish that thread was still in the database...

The absolute funniest thread that I recall was the one when Spaz admitted he had long flowing hair and ubiedaman immediately posted a picture of Fabio. Fabio's "naked nips" caused a pleasant uproar and ubiedaman had to airbrush the picture and reupload to meet tough AW decency standards. It just deteriorated from there ... at one point I think some of the ladies were trying to get Spaz into some type of thong... somewhere nipple tassels were mentioned but I can't remember for whom...

Hope you don't mind me recalling this Spaz.

You were quite the favorite with the ladies after that little party.

My all time favouite thread was the one where almost everyone posted their pic.

KRS scared me a bit, the ladies here were a lovely lot [and I'm sure they still are ], and I'm still waiting to see that pic of Spaz.

I agree with all the posts mentioned so far, there are so many to remember! But I did actually laugh for days over one...must have been over a year ago, and I've searched for it but am unable to find it now. It was a woman telling us about her buyer that wrote to her continuously about some missing accessories for the dolls she won; one of her dolls was to be a Ringmaster, but how could she perform without her shoes?? And she wrote again and again. Geez, just thinking about it is making me crack up again !! Is that thread still here someplace and I'm missing it? I'd read the updates and just laugh til I cried....literally.
Lurker here,

Hey Red:

I just want you to know that you have been one of my true confidants here at AW,
and if I don't get the chance to speak to you again here, I want to say "Thank You",
and you are one of the people here who have my "total" respect.

You are good people my friend.
