Well, the mayor of St.Paul (ya know, the "other" Twin City) said he'll vote Republican which has rightly irritated the people who thought they had voted for a Democrat.
The reason ol' Randy Kelly switched sides wasn't because, like he said, he read a bumper sticker that made him mad.
He changed his mind after a meeting with Bush.
It'll be interesting to see what this flip flopper gets for his "reward" if Bush wins. I'm sure it'll be a cushy job somewhere in the administration.
Bush is so desperate now that the "deals" are right out in the open! Minnesota is slipping out of his slimey grasp and I wonder how many more he can buy off.
Now I hope Bush loses just so Randy will be left standing there with egg on his face and no job at all!
What a spineless creep....he should get along with other Republicans he's such a low life and is so easily bought off!

This election, as we both know, is going to be full of one-sided dirty politics. Bush reminds me of the minister on the Hour of Power (the name escapes me as do most things before 7 a.m.) standing before a huge crowd of people snowing them good. I'm not big on religion (although I do believe in God so don't go there), but I do believe that what comes around, goes around. Do unto others. . . . lest they do unto you ten fold, yadda, yadda, yadda.
Isn't it funny that each time Bush's numbers slip, we have a terrorist alert? This time it's a big one. How many times will Bush cry wolf before people stop listening? Isn't it funny (and quite frightening) how easily manipulated people are? It's a cult and Bush is at the head.

First the Republicans brag how much SAFER we all are thanks to Bush.
BUT if people feel safer they tend to start paying attention to other things like the fact they have no job, what bush has done to the environment , education, etc.
So they issue phony terror alerts for TWO reasons ONLY....
1.frightened people are easier to control,
2. they can promote the idea that it's a bad idea to change administrations in the middle of "this" whatever the hel1 "this" is.
I thought "this" was over!
It's a very transparent attempt to win more votes but , there's many Americans who believe the first bumper sticker they read and never explore any farther so this out and out deception works.
Some people like to be fooled and lead by the nose.....they vote Republican..

Good move, Randy.

St. Paul mayor supports Bush for re-election
Associated Press
August 1, 2004 KELLY0802
St. Paul Mayor Randy Kelly, DFL, today said he supports President Bush for re-election.
Kelly said the economy is going in the right direction, and that he believes the United States will bring the troops home from Iraq a lot sooner if "we don't try to bring in a whole new leadership team to run the show."
"While Kelly says he doesn't agree with Bush on a lot of issues, the mayor says he agrees with the president on ``the issues of the greater good for a stronger America.´´
Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who co-chairs the Bush-Cheney campaign in Minnesota, praised Kelly, saying the mayor put principles before partisan politics.

Well twelve, from what I've been reading there are a ton of dems upset with things after the DNC convention. They were told to be quiet/shut up, don't express their own issues they'd like to see the party focus on. Maybe that's why dems here are telling posters to 'shut up'.
The kerry campaign is working hard to make it look like they're united as a party...when that's not how it really is, but they've been told it's important to present to the voters a united party.
Their 'mask' will soon be dissolved, I believe.

Few people believe the danger rating is anything but political manipulation. It's really sad when so many lies are told on so many fronts by this administration that not even a terror alert has any credibility. If the CIA or any other intelligence source had credible information what kind of sense does it make to publish such sensitive information in the Washington Post and on CNN, MSNBC. Assuming the story is true, now the terrorists know that they are expected, where they are expected to arrive and can change their plans accordingly.
In order to capture and control terrorism wouldn't it be a good idea to keep this sensitive information, if true, undercover while continuing to protect and keep a watchful eye on any possible hot spots?

I know I said I wasn't going to post anymore but you have to hear why the St. Paul Mayor is backing the Republicans. I could not sit back and not tell his side. There are two sides to every story. Too publish one is not right. This is a way all politicians should be whether Republicans or Democrats. They need to look at what is best for their Citizens, State and Country. It is not about Me (the politician) but what is good for the whole picture. We are not in a war against ourselves. I am sure we all want what is right not what we think is right.
The following appeared in the Twin Cities Pioneer Press.
Text of Mayor Randy Kelly's statement in support of President Bush
Thanks for being here; it's a wonderful day in St. Paul. It may be too nice a day to talk about politics, so I won’t keep you long.
I take a nonpartisan approach to my job as mayor of St. Paul. There is not a DFL or Republican way to keep our City safe or to clean the streets. But Saint Paul is part of a state and country and this is an important year of decision. People seem to want to know where I stand on the presidential race.
About a month ago I was driving down West 7th and came up behind a car with a bumper sticker that said, "I Hate Bush." What a pathetic printout on where we’re at in this country.
For eight years, many on the right hated Bill Clinton and desperately wanted him to fail. For the last few years, many on the left have hated George Bush and wanted him to fail.
I believe that "I Hate ________" is not the platform for any kind of future for America.
This politics of hate must stop and it must stop now. The simple reason is: the people's business is not getting done.
In our own legislature, everything ground to a halt to prevent anyone from being able to take credit for anything. The U.S. Congress is in much the same state of chaos. Somehow we've gotten into a pattern where the common good is less important than the political good.
I am just one voice, but I'm standing up to say, "Enough."
The economy has been tough, and a lot of people have been hurt. But it's going in the right direction. There's no reason to believe a change of course will produce better or quicker results.
The war in Iraq was won in blinding speed — the peace has been a much greater challenge. And, whether through unrealistic expectations, or simply mistakes made in good faith, now is not the time to say we should end our commitment to the 25 million Iraqis our American soldiers have freed and are fighting to give them a chance at self governance.
The reality is: almost 150,000 of our troops are in Iraq today. We'll get them home a lot sooner and with a better outcome if we don't try to bring in a whole new leadership team to run the show. We must stay the course.
I agree with the President that we must see this thru and not turn tail and run, and give our enemies the message that we lack resolve.
And the war on terror is a huge, ongoing struggle. If we changed presidents at this juncture, there is just no question that it would confuse our friends and encourage our enemies. In a war, you just can't afford to do that. Continuity and resolve is critical.
George Bush and I do not agree on all issues. I believe the President must focus greater energy on the deficit. I believe the President must resist those who believe gay marriage should be an issue to divide America to win an election, and instead call upon the greater instincts of American tolerance to bring us together.
But in turbulent times, what the American people need more than anything is continuity of government, even one with some imperfect policies. Where George Bush and I agree, is on the issues of the greater good for a stronger America.
The common good will be better served on the path we're on than with an abrupt change of direction, especially one paved in part with political hatred.
Earlier this week, the Pioneer Press praised me for not indulging in the politics of hatred and division. As proud as I am of their kind words, I am more determined than ever to send the message to my sons — and to the sons and daughters of other Moms and Dads in St. Paul, Minnesota and America — that we can, we should and we must stop — now — this poison partisanship that threatens to destroy the national will to come together to win the War on Terror here, at home, and across the world.
In his book, John Kennedy said both national parties seek to serve the national interest. But when an officeholder finds the interests of party differ from the national interest, the first responsibility must not be to party, but to conscience.
It is not in the national interest to feed the politics of hate. I feel it is in the national interest to keep the economic and international course we are on.
Americans are looking for strong, steady, and principled leadership. They crave politicians who stand for something, rather than rally us against someone. The American people I know — the ones I represent in St. Paul — care about leaders who stand steady in difficult times, who do not waver nor bend to the wind. They want strong, determined leadership — and, I believe George Bush provides us that leadership today at this point in our history.
I’ve been a Democrat all my life and after this announcement I’ll continue to be a Democrat. But I believe I have a higher loyalty to what's best for my country and our city than to party.
So this November, George W. Bush has my endorsement for President of the United States.
This is a hard decision for me.
To my Republican friends, my heart, my mind, values, and my convictions are rooted in and forged in the principles of the Democratic Party.
I pledge my heart and my good faith to work with you when and where we can — but, I will oppose you where I believe you to be wrong, and when you do not represent the best interests of our community.
And, to my Democratic friends, we have often agreed to disagree over the past 30 years I have been involved in politics and government. I trust that you and I will agree to disagree on this decision. All I ask, is your respect for my right to make it.
This past week I had the opportunity to personally talk with the President. We agreed to work together for the best interest of our country and St. Paul. He assured me that the challenges and opportunities that face urban centers are ones we will work on together.
Let me end by sharing with you something I believe to the core of my being.
Whatever the cost of this decision is to me, the expense of remaining quiet in this election year is of far greater consequence to me. I have done what I can, along with the love and care of my wife, to raise two sons these past two decades. I love them with more of my being than I care to share with you today. And, it is with that love, that I make this difficult decision and choice.
Because, at the end of each and every day, my responsibility as a Mayor, as an American, as a husband and as a father is to speak up when a voice must be heard.

I give the guy credit for sticking his neck out but I disagree on a couple of points:
The war in Iraq was won in blinding speed — the peace has been a much greater challenge.
There is only one part to a war and the war is still being faught and will continue to be faught until all troops are home.
The reality is: almost 150,000 of our troops are in Iraq today. We'll get them home a lot sooner and with a better outcome if we don't try to bring in a whole new leadership team to run the show. We must stay the course.
So I suppose a reigm change was not a good thing when Clinton took over for Bush Sr.
And the war on terror is a huge, ongoing struggle. If we changed presidents at this juncture, there is just no question that it would confuse our friends and encourage our enemies. In a war, you just can't afford to do that. Continuity and resolve is critical.
Just like the war on drugs in a huge ongoing struggle?? So if the war on terror does not end for another twenty years, he believes we should not change presidents? Confuse our friends and encourage our enemies - what the heck is he smoking. I don't think he has fully thawed out from the harsh winter up in Minnesota yet.

Thank you, Libra. It's refreshing to read the words of a man who has strong personal convictions.
Randy Kelly reminds me of our President....do what's in the best interest of our country, no matter how popular it is at the moment.
Not vote to send the troops off to war, then vote against funding them and then have the gall to pretend you really didn't mean to send them off to war - like kerry and edwards did. That's a man who lacks convictions....an example of a bad worst kind of politician, imo.

Can you imagine what the backlash would be if they didnt disclose it and there actually was an attack??

And Teresa Heinz Kerry became a democrat
from a republican. who-whoo.
I have been a democrat my whole life -- and just for you cripefeigner - my father co-wrote the plain language law in new jersey which went up against all the major insurance companies and the entire legal profession - so stir that into your whiskey if you think you know me so well.
When I see the downright repulsive, repugnant and NASTINESS the so called liberals on this board display, I know I have no fellowship with it. I can only remind myself you are just a small segment of distorted people but you make it very easy to want to see the republicans stay in office. Those people in St Paul did not vote in just a democrat. Ideally, they voted in the best person they thought could do the job for them and their city. You're so blinded by your own partianship.

What about Bush sending the troops into a war without having the necessary equipment and armor to begin with. How many troops complained about not having the necessary armor to begin with or not having the necessary armor to protect them from roadside bombs? I suppose you are going to blame Clinton for this.
Why not just blame Bush Sr. for not finishing the first Gulf War. Who didn't proceed to finish off Sadaam when he had the chance...... I think that answer would be Bush Sr.

Anyway, your posts in here are pertinent to the topic....political manipulation.
Anyone know what a cripefeigner is ? Something seen in a hallucination ???? Is it anything like a rubber manure hat?
