yellowstone - There's another poster here too that either still lives in IN or did at one time.
When my husband retired we seriously thought of moving back to Indiana. He loved it when we vacationed back there...and he was born, raised and had lived in CA all his life. My Uncle even offered us 10 acres of free land if we'd build on his acreage, also on a hill in Logansport, that he had subdivided.
My heart will always be 'back home in Indiana'....but decided that as we aged we didn't really want to cope with the terrible, long winters. AND because we watched my relatives leaving IN and heading south each winter...told us they didn't either.

crowfaart, I dont have to be able to recount history to drive through anytown USA and admire the landscape of abandoned manufacturing plants that were once the thriving source of the united states economy. Fifty years ago the best we thought china could do was produce tea.

God, you're stupid crowfart! How do you get by in life?
Is it the word soil in the sentence that utterly confuses you? China, Indonesia, Pakistan - you name some other countries..and ...w h a t t h e y a r e
.. d o i n g ... o n t h e i r o w n
... s o i l ... that has not had a significant effect on our economy!~ We are way more concerned about other countries than fifty years ago & not just because of weaponry or their armies.
In 2005, it is cheap, its easy, and its fast to go outside the US for products and services. IT WAS NOT so fifty years ago when our own manufacturing base was a driving force to our economy. And if goods were being imported, with a ship scheduled to leave port in an hour one would have to have had to sent western union or a pelican across the oceans for any adjustments. Now, people just pop on the internet or send a fax to transact business in real time all across the world.
