I have been using PROPAY as much as possible and put in my emails it is preffered by me not only do they have cheaper fees (I just recently noticed paypal's .50 cents fee on my 7.00 items)...but you can process your customers credit card yourself without merchant account monthly charges..also send and request money...I have had good service from them and far outweigh PAYPAL'S rip offs I noticed when paypal started how it was FREE then when they had the following and the business they then started with the charges I have had my account frozen...chargebacks with no customer support My boyfriend even sent me $ for an item I bought him on ebay and they froze it ..took it back out of my account and did not send it back to his CC company..they are total frauds..I use them and hate how they rip me off with charges as I sell low cost items I wish my customers would not use and use PROPAY but unfortunately Paypal got a whole bunch of business at the start and as our customers are not charged and WE ARE it is to paypals benefit to charge us and not them...so we lose all round...try PROPAY.COM and hey..use ME as a REFFERAL might get me some extra $ (make up for what I lose of the frauds at paypal...

Propay is great and I use it myself.

Propay is a sellers system. I only use it to charge my home party guests who want to pay with credit card. I also use it for my auctionworks storefront customers who type in a card number for me to process manually.

I have never once sent anyone money from it nor will I ever anticipate any buyer having this kind of account then funding it to send money to me to pay for something.

In my opinion propay is not at all buyer friendly. It is a merchant account for those like me who don't have a real merchant account.

I'd keep an eye on ProPay...if you look at their login screen, they have gone from being a free signup, to 9.99 to 35.00 just today (1-24-2002)

Generally, when you see such a sudden upswing, it suggests the company in question is having financial difficulties.

Another question would be how safe is any money you have placed in a reserve account? They hold it for 6 to 7 months before returning it to you once you ask for it back.

Just a few thoughts.

when i see a service co starting to charge fee,i breathe a sign of relief.
at least it is making an effort to run its business like a real business.
i wish them well and hope they will collect enough fee to cover their expenses and book a profit down the road.

propay is not cheap, there is a chargeback fee if the seller loses the cc dispute.
also where does it say holding reserve for 6-7 months??
propay is good if you want to accept cc without a merchant account or bypass your merchant account.
35 cents transaction fee plus 3.5 % discount, that rate is kind of high, but if you do a few ,it is okay

Propay might just be in financial woes.

I have a commission junction account and signed up as a propay affiliate almost a year ago.

A little over a week ago commission junction deactivated propay. When initiated by cj it means they aren't paying their bill to cj for all of their affiliates earnings.

They were first a commision per transaction base........then an account sign up fee and according to the poster above upped their sign up fee considerably.

I guess I'll be shopping for a standard merchant account soon.

sign up fee of 35 is okay if they are going to be around.
it is still cheaper than a merchant account.
where can we find out more about the commission junction delisting business??

I have a website and I signed up with commision junction to get banner ads for my site. I had a banner add on my site for propay for quite a few months. Just last week they sent a notice to us saying they were being deactivated.

If you don't already have an account with them there really wouldnt be a way for you to see their status. There is no story next to it. I just get notices of my advertisers getting dumped.

My banners are still up because I can't run to change them. But i'll dump them on my next site update.

Guess what?! ProPay holds your financial data hostage and will not release it unless you pay a $25 year end report fee ::

https://epay.propay.com/cgi/buyOrder.exe/process?BBaqaXOaLaErCTveL

They only have the last four months available online, and if you want to access the rest, you have to pay this fee! What a ripoff!

I would now like to downgrade from loving propayto simply tolerating them until something better comes along somewhere along the line they have forgotten that they providea service to customers they have to see more than once.

Well, I just checked out their site and it seems like an awful process to go through ! I'm a vntage clothing dealer who sells online via eBay ( httP;//members.ebay.com/aboutme/*knockout*clothing*/ ) ,and I'm in the middle of getting a website set up as well . I've been doing this for a year, and have always used Billpoint . A lot of other sellers /buyers out there I know use Paypal, and while half the people love it, half the people hate it because they've been ripped off by it. I have yet to have a problom w/ Billpoint .
Due to demand though, I recently registered w/ Paypal and am in the process of being verified for it . I've heard the horror stories, so I'm crossing my fingers and hoping I don't have such probloms >: ).
I also just signed up for c2it , which is Citibanks competitor against Paypal . Anyone have anything to say about them ? I do hope they'll be a good service !

I have used both c2it and paypal and billpoint have had no problem with any of them as of yet and have had to call customer service on a couple of questions and both paypal and c2it have been taken care of me with great customer service.

there is a thread last year on billpoint chargebacks, a group of ebay designer clothes sellers are thinking taking billpoint to court, high stakes involved and sellers said they have signature receipts and proof that the buyers have received merchandise.
i believe some of these transactions were done with overseas buyers.
in most chargebacks related to fraudulent activities, there will be loser as someone has walked away with the merchandise,so who loses?naturally the merchant, dont believe one minute your bank or payment provider is going to eat your loss.
merchant lost not just merchandise, but shipping and chargeback fee.
