Since this bidder is such a game player I would just sent the payment back, cancel the deal and relist.
This winner is sure to find fault somewhere if you do ship to them.
You do not need the headache for such a small amount.
Would hate to think what kind of a seller this clown is if they are such a moron as a bidder.

I do send out EOA emails and if someone pays me prior to me contacting them I send a Thanks for your payment email. Approximately 30-50% pay before I can send out end of auction emails and I ususally send the that night or the next day.

Here is what I have done to those fools in the past. email" Thank you very much for purchasing this product. Your payment was $$$$ lower than expected to cover for shiping. Please let me know how you intend to remit the difference. In the mean time I will hold you paid for item here."

I still have a box here with a drum in it from a buyer who gave me a BAD address. he spent alot of money to have the box shipped to him and then returned to me. I only require that he pay me the next shipping amount before I send his (HIS) product. I am only storing it for him. Free at that!

Not to mention the goobers who want to ignore the prices for shipping in the auction listing and pay nothing because the form said a different price. (insurance is $1.10? cool, that's all I'll pay for. That's fine with me, I have your money and your item, you best send me the rest or you'll never get to enjoy your 'widget')

blah!

Blessings,
William Ellison:

Here's the problem with the zip code thing. I sometimes get customers who are not at home, but want the item sent to where they are at, or even their office, or even as a gift to a friend. They live in your zone 1, but their friend live in your zone 8, huge losses on quoted mailinga address. Yes this is rare, but something to consider.

JACKSWEBB: I am 100 per cent with you. I feel as you do about getting Zip Codes into tne auction winner. If I had that at the end of the auction I could immediately give the shipping charges & there would be no problems as to where they resided. I don't want to rip off my buyers on shipping charges.

Hello again,

Thought you all might be interested in the 2 responses I got from 2 different E-bay reps about adding the Zipcodes. I was quite pleased with the responses.

(1.) "Thank you for writing to have the buyer's zipcode displayed on the
auction page once the auction ends.

This is an excellent suggestion. We have had similar requests regarding
displaying zipcodes from other sellers and I have taken the liberty of
forwarding your email to our Product Development team to be included
with the other zipcode-related suggestions to be considered for future
changes to the site."

(2.) "Thank you for sharing your concerns and ideas.

The communication we receive from our community members is critical for
us to make changes that will keep our site the best. I will forward
your message for further consideration by the Product Development Team.

Thanks again for taking the time to help us learn more about what you
want and need from our service."

That don't-give-a-whit-about-PayPal-confirmed bidder sounds like one of those people who go to restaurants and always complain so they'll get their meal for free. I've known such. Not nice. And very embarrassing if you happen to be dining with them.

I'd refund the jerk's money, notify eBay, notify PayPal, and block the idiot from further bidding on any of my stuff. (Just make sure you keep copies of all your correspondence.)

Flat rate shipping? Sounds great on paper. But when I calculate final S/H/I costs, I accommodate net shipping costs plus insurance costs plus meagre handling costs to cover packaging, time, etc. As we all know, S/H/I can vary considerably.

Plus, if you're selling on eBay and using PayPal, you've got to consider all of those fees that hit once you sell.

Finally, some folks just don't care about insurance.

All in all, I find it easier to simply state that buyer pays S/H/I additional...and that I will ship, upon receipt of payment, via buyer's choice of shipping method.

(I also worry about flat rate when it comes to, for example, Fed Ex Ground shipping to a residential address. In some cases I've encountered, the residential surcharge is almost $3.00 because of the "remoteness" of the addressee.)
