Kodak DC3400. Anyone have any ideas on using it to photograph jewelry? I use the special close up setting and I still get blur even though your supposed to be able to be inches from the object. Does anyone know of another setting for the camera that would work with the close up (i.e., shutter speed, different lighting, etc.). Would appreciate the help as I am tired of spending hours photographing a few pieces of jewelry. I like the camera although the recharables don't seem to stay charged for very long.

I was using a Fuji finepix 1300 I got two years ago up until about 2 weeks ago. I bought a SONY DSC-S85 for, get this... $299.00 at Video Only. How? Well, I paid $499 for it, then I saw that Best Buy was selling it in their sales ad this week for $399. So, I went back into Video Only, and get this... they offer 200% of the difference back. So, I got 200 bucks back instead of $100. Incredible!!! 4.1 megapixel and a Carl Zeiss lens with an aperature down to 2.0 (perfect for those low light conditions). What I like about this camera is that it also offers 3 different settings for the flash (low, normal, high) so that I can determine how bright I need the photo to be and I can even mount an external flash on the flash shoe. Plus the macro on it is perfect. I get close-ups that are maginficant! Sorry, I'm a photographer, and use a Canon A2E 35mm, with a Tamron 28-105 2.8 lens for my non-auction work.

Won't use anything but Sony Mavica. Mine is almost three years old and is still working flawlessly.

Mavica 90 and memory sticks. Bought a bunch of 16mb at a K-Mart on clearance for $2.99. What a find that was.

Hi

Sony Mavica here, too. Great close ups.

I found one drawback with the floppies.
I left one in the car one day and the heat warped it very bad. My mistake of course, however, that is one thing to watch out for.

You can print 8x10's although you will find grain. Now, I like the look of more grain especially on Sepia prints or black and white. Just my preference. If you want crystal clear pics at 8x10, then less than 1 megapixel will not do for you.

I love the Mavica. You can take all the shots from the disk and just put them on a CD if your have equipment. One CD will hold tons of your shots from the Mavica.

Yes, the battery seems to last forever. Get a battery that holds more charge and you can go for a long time and then just recharge. No more buying batteries.

Search under Google for Mavica and you will see some find shots taken with that camera.
You can find some deals on Ebay for the Mavica. Still some older ones around. The Sony outlet stores have them, too. There is one in Lancaster PA - not sure where you live.

Hope this helps.

JJ
