shop4shoes, hopefully you can use this as a learning tool. I think $150 is actually a small price to pay for a lesson in human nature. Hopefully this won't happen to you again....I've been burned so many times I can't tell you, hence, the cynicism. Selling on e-bay isn't as fun as it used to be.....

I thoroughy enjoyed this thread.
ShoesMaybe you could start a service for all of us who have been ripped off.

I wish I could remember the name of the person who did a similar thing to me - although she did not get the item - she left me my first negative - can you believe that and she had a -1 rating and before I could post a negative , she was 'NARU'.
This was Christmas and my daughter in law had bought an extra Barbie cash register because they were very sought after that year. She asked me to sell it for her. I listed and it did go quite high. The winning bidder was just bubbly and said it was for one of her twin daughters and she was sending the payment via Fed-ex - even sent tracking # and would we send the item on the strength of the #. We called Fed-ex and they said that was a bogus number - not a tracking number. She insisted, but we told her we could not send until we received the money. The next morning, I got up to a negative. By that time, she was Naru'ed and, of course, the money never came.

Now I checked with another seller who was selling the same thing to her who sent the item anyway and lost out.

Sounds a lot like the same person.
I don't suppose there is any way I could find out the contact information on someone that long ago and Naru is there?

WEll, I only got a negative out of it - but you would think Ebay might remove a negative posted by someone with a -1 - but I guess not. I tried a couple of times, but only got canned answers.

She still hasn't figured out that I am the same company that she placed the website order with.

I sent her the following email 2 days ago.

Hello xxxx,

My company is in the middle of changing our credit card processor. Due to this, we are unable to accept any other method of payment besides money orders. You may purchase a money order online using your credit card at bidpay.com. I apologize for any inconvenience.

Her response today:

I really wanted those boots. I only use credit cards for my online purchases, I feel so much safer that way. I will pass for now, unless you want the send them to me and bill me later.

What a WENCH! Safer my as*. She just wants to do a chargeback. BILL HER!!!!!! I may drink, but I ain't drunk!

shop4shoes,

This is one of the funnest threads that I have read in a long time. I've always wondered how to spell that laughter sound. MUHHAHAHHHH!

I agree with the others that say you could open a collection agency. The name could be The Vengeance is Mine Collection Agency. As you may know, every business has needs a good slogan. Yours could be, "Whatever it takes, we will collect! MUHHAHAHHHH!!"

Your approach telling your buyer about the police report being a public document reminded me of a book I once read about landlording. The author of the book said one of his tecniques to collect for non payment of rent was to send a registered letter to the tenants employer. Someone had to sign for it, and usually it passed through 3 hands before it got to the deadbeat. The part that worked was the letter had PERSONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL stamped on the front and back.

As everyone knows, their is usually a gossip circle in nearly every workplace. When you receive such a letter, the circle goes to work right away. MUHHAHAHHHH

I am patient. Very patient. It may take me years, but I will eventually get you.

I am the unofficial collection agency/ enforcer for a few of my friends and fellow business people.

One of my friends inherited a bar/nightclub. The employees were shabby, dishonest, disrespectful and two had 5 inches of dark roots showing.

My friend is pretty tough, but for some reason her new employees were running all over her. She called me in. Told me to manage the place for a few days. Day 2 under my regime, I called the employees in to the office and let the firings begin. The few that were left straightened up immediately.
