Libre - I have lived in complexes where packages that were too large for boxes were left in the managers office for pick-up. More than once I only found out about a package because I went searching for it.

It depends on the complex.

I've never signed a release for the post office but I have had packages left with the office and at my last apartment, they were left at my doorstep.

i have a HWP printer/copier and scanner all in one,and it is just slow in printing & copying.scanning is okay.
yes,i know laser printer is better, but i dont print much anyway,so i put up with it.
-well,back to dc or e-dc,i used to live in this apt complex, and i am home most of the time, the postman will claim he has tried not once but twice or thrice to deliver my package but i never hear anyone knocking.
anyway, lets not beat this issue to death, most packages do arrive and most buyers and sellers are honest.

sapington: What does the type of printer have to do with receiving a pkg. or not? You must be in the wrong subject, or I have 1 too many glasses of Zinfadel. LOL

Sanmar, I think he was referring to stopwhinning's post about not printing eDC labels because she didn't have a lazer printer and then one she has is slow and used a lot of ink.

Sapington-I have an 810C Desk Jet and I paid $15.00 for it at my goodwill. It prints the labels perfectly and I have the ink on low.

neomania I hate to tell you but if the eDC says it was delivered and you were not home to get it. If the postman left your package without your consent and it is lost the postal insurance is not going to cover that package because the eDC says it was delivered. I can speak from experience, and so can my buyer that lost $40.00 because that is what she did.

Isnt there a charge of 25.00 if you want to file fraud charges against a seller?I remmeber a buyer telling me he had to file a fraud charge against a seller for not delivering a 125 dollar dvd player, and told me at least I got 100.00 of it back thrugh ebays as there was a 25.00 processing fee. Why would anyone pay ebays 25.00 to get a 123 dollar item sounds rather odd to me.

Insurance is generally purchased for the shippers sake. If the item is not received, Visa/ Mastercard won't really care that a buyer turned down insurance. So really, the shipper has to either require insurance, include it in S&H, or self-insure. Personally, when I'm asked to pay $2 insurance on a $10 item, I think it's a total joke and waste of money.

Here's the thing (ignoring lengthy shipping times, for the moment). Any 1 shipment is unlikely to be lost, so the initial reaction is to think that the buyer is lying. Maybe they are. But out of 5000 shipments, it seems likely that one or two get lost. And if that happens to you as a buyer, you may tend to think it's pretty unlikely that your one shipment is lost. So it's natural for the buyer and seller to think the other one is a crook.

Things get lost in the mail. The buyer sent a money order in good faith for the goods, and hasn't received them. Maybe it's stuck in the mail, but for a low priced item, you'll save a lot of time, hassle and, yes, even money, by self-insuring and taking a loss on every 1/1000 item.

eBay only works because of the general trust in the system. Erode that trust, and eBay will wither and die. So I suggest that when a buyer claims an item is lost that you swallow your pride, apologize and refund or replace. It's just good karma.
