What John has told me is something I do remember - antiquities are no longer allowed to leave China. If there is someone on Ebay selling from China claiming a piece to be an antiquity, the chances are high that it is a fake. Unless, that is, he has friends in customs.

Sure wish I knew exactly what you were talking about. . .can you link the About Me page?

The name of the book is: A Connoisseur's Guide to Chinese Ceramics. It covers from the Neolithic Period through the mid 20th Century. It also covers Export Ware and how to read dates. I cannot comprehend the date reading thing yet, but I'm working on it. It seems terribly complicated. I show my friend, John, a piece and without hesitation he can read it. But, he's been doing it for years and has a degree.
