Dubya is dumb, Dubya is dumb, and may I add, Dubya is dumb.

Yes, I am a Bush Basher! When he says something intelligent or does something I agree with, I will stop.

I lived near a military base until six months ago. My part time bartenders were mostly servicemen and schoolteachers. Neither one of these professions pay enough.
No sane person (I'm not) would chose to spend their time off dealing with drunks in a West Texas Honky Tonk. These people really needed the extra money.

I don't think Bush has a real firm grasp on what he wants our miltary's role to be:

"Redefining the role of the United States from enablers to keep the peace to enablers to keep the peace from peacekeepers is going to be an assignment."-—Bush, in an interview with the New York Times, Jan. 14, 2001

In a blind rush to discredit Bush, it appears that common-sense is being ignored and facts are being overlooked or purposely being excised from all the paraphrasing and opinion-based bits of gossip, to support anti-Bush allegations.

Where are the FACTS that Bush has done a complete reversal on his post-election statements that he will upgrade the military in all areas in accordance with need and priority?

No sooner had he made his intentions known, and before it was known who would be the next President, most of the military command community and political supporters immediately jumped the gun and started stipulating how much money was needed for (their) military branch, and all the material needed or requiring updating.

Anyone that knows anything about the military would (also) know that the military has a reputation of wanting and seeking new toys beyond (actual) need and often without concern that a separate branch might have priority. Commonly, each branch wants newer and better toys than other branches have.

Bush has not said, "The deal is off." He is wisely requiring that all claims and requests are first evaluated for actual necessity and what requires prioritizing. You do not hand out billions of dollars on a "first come, first served" basis. Moreover, you do not hand out billions of dollars before you get all your boxes unpacked.

All this anti-Bush rhetoric is artillery saturation with no factual coordinates in hope of accidentally hitting ANY anti-Bush target.

Let's see: "No new money this year for defense."

Yeah, you're right. He's probably just evaluating...settling in...waiting for 25% of his presidency to be over...

eye SHOSH- It has everything to do with Bush bashers and you know it. Please don't try to give the appearance of being objective on the same day that you post smiley faces regarding gunshots at the White House....

I have absolutely no intention of being objective...I dispise the guy, and I feel grrrrrr-e-a-t about it....

And if there were a committee looking for a way to scare him enough and send him packing, I would definitely be on that committee...

Here's another great Bush quote. Looks like he's already building up his "trustworthiness":

"Well, I think if you say you're going to do something and don't do it, that's trustworthiness."--Bush, during a CNN online interview, August 30, 2000

Let us see; Bush has been in office since 20Jan01. Pushing for the max in an attempt to pacify the disgruntled, the best I can come with is, Bush has been in office for 19 days.

I do believe further reason(s) need not be provided to water down arguments that (arguments) are more appropriate if presented (after) something has occurred for a longer period than 19 days.

I will let my counter-argument stand as a "proxy bid." It (counter-argument) should suffice for several months.

I am also interested in how a person develops a "ggggr" attitude and emotion for someone who has only been in office for 19 days? One whom holds an emotional reaction based on self-conceived or inaccurate hand-fed comments is not reaching conclusions based on facts.

Clinton and Gore provided years of information to analyze. "Grrrrrrr!"

That's fair enough. I also think this thread's premise is kinda overblown because he really hasn't had a chance to prove or disprove himself in any big way yet. But "no new money this year for defense" seems to mean "no new money this year for defense" even at 19 days.

The huge difference is Clinton/Gore were elected by the people unlike Bush. When Bush said "I trust the people, he trusts the government", and then went crying to the courts to stop the counts that showed me what moron we are dealing with. Republicans know how stupid he is, but they are forced to defend him as the leader of their party. I honestly think McCain will beat him in the 2004 primary. And why should we have more military to protect him?

"....and then went crying to the courts to stop the counts.

Remove "crying" and the "s" from counts and insert "an ILLEGAL 3rd count" after your first "the" to validate your claim.

The word "and" does indicate a counter-action to an action.

The Supreme Court that made the decision which I'm sure you were pleased with didn't say the count was illegal. Au contraire, they said it was legal but "time's up".

I've heard Rehnquist plans to appoint Bush dictator for life. Bush read the Cliff Notes to Plutarch and thought that would be a cool idea. Better not turn his back to Ashcroft though.

"Au contraire back at you. The U.S. Supreme Court shoved everything the Florida (Democratic) Supreme ruled on back down their throats. The core of the "Crow," was that the Florida Supreme Court ignored standing law and legislated "new law" …from the bench.

I just got off the telephone with Pres' George. I was telling him about the continuing moot criticisms regarding his winning the election. In that Texas drawl of his he said,

"Waaaaall, the way I see it, for at least the next four years the complainers will have something to do and the sites being used will be able to stay on line….for the next four years."

He then said, "Hey, sgtmike, have noticed you ain't seen Gore since he no longer has a hand up the back of his clothing to move his head and mouth for him?"

mike...you seem to be forgetting that Clinton had been in office TWO DAYS when poles were already assessing his performance...(not sexual) and crucifying him...

So, 19 days for your pal (who was NOT elected, but BOUGHT), is being very generous, don't ya think? I gave him the benefit of a doubt...No more doubts...Dubious is a jerk...
