When should you say something when you've been overcharged for postage? The last 4 things I bought, I was overcharged $30.00 extra in total. Since I'm in Canada, I have no way of knowing if the quoted charge is the actual shipping until it arrives. I don't mind paying handling charges but when the shipping is double or more, is it right for me to question the seller about it? The month before I only bought 5 items but was overcharged big time on 2 of them. I wrote to the sellers and never heard back on either one, so I'm wondering if there's any point. Should I just mention it in feedback?

ACTUAL POSTAGE does NOT = SHIPPING FEES!
There are lots of factors that influence the final SHIPPING FEE!
My DOMESTIC items I can just hand off to Ralphie's buddy -- our delivery-person. BUT, international shipments MUST be done at the PO & I DONNA DRIVE!
I have to pay to get there...PLUS, there ain't no FREE boxes for international (except for very very pricey EXPRESS)
Sorry, but Ralphie's BVDs get all bunched when buyers (ESPECIALLY from MOOSE-POOP SASAKATOONY or BROKEN-JAW ALBERTA) start P&M'ing about SHIPPING FEES after the fact...

Remember before Christmas I was pissing and moaning about being charged $65.00 UK to ship something here when I could put it in the USPS website and "see" that shipping should only be $35.00?
My poor little 4 pound package arrived and the shipping cost on it was 33 pounds (or however you write those UK numbers) which did turn out to be about $65.00.
WHY there is so much difference between "their" postage rates and "ours" I don't know.
But don't be pissing people off just because they're asking a simple question.

Kraft, let me translate Ralphie's ever so elegant message.
If you buy on Ebay not knowing what the shipping is, you get what you asked for.
ALWAYS inquire about shipping before you buy. If the item has no other bidders or is selling too cheaply, it could be because the other bidders already know they don't want to pay the high shipping.
IF the seller is not stating their shipping up front, you can usually assume there is a reason.
They are not just trying to tick off Canadians, they are probably overcharging everyone.
I don't state Canadian shipping in my auctions, but I do state US shipping. I will gladly give an international buyer a quote, but sometimes even I am shocked about how much an item will cost to ship.
BUYERS should ALWAYS ask BEFORE bidding, how much TOTAL shipping will be.

If you read the OP you would have seen that he/she did write an ask the seller a question with no answer. If ebay is going to have that function then a buyer should expect an answer.
Shipping to Canada is not much more, if any than mailing to the US. I sell to canada alot and I can just about tell them what the charge will be. For International buyers I do tell them the weight of the package and tell them I am mailing air letter post they can most of the time know what postage will be. To over charge by a small amount to cover handling costs I find is okay but for fee avoidance is wrong and that is what many sellers do.
If I was KD I would be upset.

As has been stated on and on ad infinitum, the time to ask is BEFORE you bid. Did you do that? Did you check the cost on the USPS website? Not difficult at all if you have any idea what the packed weight will be.
If you did indeed bid on something where the seller quoted you "exact postage" or something like that and you were charged more than what is shown on the package then, yes, you do have reason to complain. It would certainly be appropriate to question the seller in that instance.
OTOH, if you were quoted a shipping charge that didn't specifically state "exact postage" then you have no reason to complain after the fact. You knew what S/H would be and by bidding you agreed to pay it. Same as the seller's other TOS.
Personally, I completely agree with Tom except for his unfortunate choice of words in addressing the OP. 
An aside here... shipping to Canada can be EXTREMELY expensive if the box goes oversize.

If this is correct, then no she shouldn't complain now. She could have checked the USPS website or questioned the amount before she bid.
As for Tom's response. Kraft is not a newbie. She's been in the RT for a while and has been involved in some pretty heated discussions. She knows how things are. And some of you have said a lot worse and treated people a lot worse.
And picking on Ralphie is low.

Ralphie is a smart little guy & cute as can be. Can't help loving him.
As for postage & Canada, I agree it's not a lot more than mailing in the states.
If you don't get a quote before bidding you could be asking for trouble.

However Krafty-you SHOULD know better-you've been on these boards long enough. You should know to ask about shipping charges BEFORE you bid.If the're too much either look elsewhere or dont bid.I charge close to what the actual shipping is.Some people make money on the shipping and thats their way of doing business.
Even if their out to screw you on the shipping,its your business to know this before hand.If you dont ask,dont complain about it afterward.Even in your feedback,if you are satisfied with what you got,nothing short of a positive is warranted-case closed.
cant say anything about Toms dog's looks-I love and had at one time a Chinese Sharpei lol.

Once I shipped a box to Canada and because it was 1/8" too large it cost an extra $10+ to mail it! I was floored. I took the package back home and re-wrapped it. The biggest problem with international packages that I can see is the size restriction.
I sell mostly jewelry so I can send an international package for $5 using the Global Priority small envelopes. That's the only way I will send international packages unless they're too large to go into one of those envelopes.
I think you were over-charged, but at this point I'd chalk it up to experience and would put a negative spin on your positive feedback.

Just curious.... Why do you only use Global Cheryl? You can ship first class airmail for 20-50% the cost depending on weight and they only take about three days more than global to most of Europe.
