Home now. Blisters are gone, but the rash remains. Narcotics are working, but when they are wearing down, I get pain flashes that bring me to my knees. I've listed almost 400 items, and sold enough to pay for the trip (if you take into accound the money I made renting apartments and the money I made from Coke being a Senior Pin Consultant). I have a great collection and I have about 500 or so pins left to sell. You can check out Dejapooh on Ebay later tonight and see some stuff I have up. I will probably have 100 auctions running by Midnight PDT.

I still have pain & itching on and off 3 years after having shingles. The anti-virals really do work, although I took mine orally.
I remember being really PO'ed at the time I had shingles because of the nervous nelly approach to pain medication my (then) doctor used. He gave me some good pain meds that worked, but then switched to Tramadol when I wanted more. I took a few Tramadol, and then told him it wasn't worth the prescription cost; I might as well take Motrin. I asked him if I really fit the profile of a "drug seeker": mid fifties, 4 kids, general good health, good financial health, etc. He told me, well, frankly, that's not a deviation from profile. Oh well, better that 10 patients feel pain than that 1 patient catches a buzz.
The bummer was that I just really used it to get to sleep; throughout the day I could do a mind over matter thing (plus some Motrin) and do fine, but I couldn't sleep with the pain. I've come to hate doctors over the years; I'm glad that I didn't become one.

Sorry, I missed the comment about bringing narcotics back from China. I ran out the day before I was to come home. Full pain and full itching the entire trip... I am back on pain killers. I've had two more break outs for Shingles since I've been home. My doctor can not figure out how someone my age has shingles, much less three outbreaks in 8 weeks (normally, more than once a year is cause for concern).
I've given all of my pins to a friend to put up for auction, so I am ending up with a light profit and a great trip. I can't wait until 2010 (and an ENGLISH speaking Olympics).

I had chicken pox when I was a kid,20 years later I caught shingles in Chicago along the same nerve line where I had chicken pox scars.
A friend of mine,her parents joined a tour to sightsee China and everyone but her mother caught shingles and they all have it where it is covered by clothing and where there is tightness like waist if they are wearing belts or elastic band around their skirt or pants!
