Mouse please check your mail.
Gravid, we have both flat and a bit hilly around my area, it is a fair combination of both. Most of our land is fairly flat.
We have a variety of wildlife around here, but we do not have kangaroos' hopping around the town. They can be found a bit further away. Some of the forest areas that have been built in have the odd kangaroo come into the yards but not often. We do have the occassional koala around here, and of course the possums. There is also a plentiful supply of native bird life around and we have a fox that lives in the paddock behind us.

They made a big thing about the coral. They must have collected live stuff when diving.
We go to Sanibel Island and collect shells and taking the live ones is a no-no.
We saw a nine foot alligator - that is unusually large - made my wife nervous as he was about 3 foot away. He and I weigh about the same. Had a little 6 footer in the pond at out hotel. It was sort of an embarrassment because it ignore everyone else but when I came out it retreated to the middle of the pond and always faced me turning if I walked around the pond. I said it is thinking that's a lot of meat. My wife said if that was it it would come up to the edge. When it stays in the middle it is thinking - Anything that big has to be dangerous. Funny way to view delicate little guy like me.

koala - they are so cute. We have possum like crazy also and they seem to have a suicidal wish to throw themselves in front of your car.
The campus of the university where my wife works has clumps of woods all over and we have seen as many as 9 deer at one time, but very rare to see a buck. They have geese and ducks and blue heron and the buzzards come roast on the ledge outside her window and peck at the window because they are so stupid they think the reflection is another buzzard.

Gravid, where are you again? About the only things I ever see are black widows, yuck! If there's one thing I am scared to death of, it's spiders!
Isn't it cute Netta? I love Kliban cats!

We are just North of Detroit out where it is still some farm land. There are no bear or elk down here and it is rare to see an eagle but pretty much everything else that is in the Northern part of the State.
It is wet - lots of small lakes and streams.
A really pretty stream on a gravel bed runs through the city park. There are trout in it.
They are busy turning it all into subdivisions and malls but there are still farms for grains and corn. A lot of orchards
and truck farms also.

Had my fill of Black Widows when we were in North Caolina. Now in Australia they have some SERIOUS hairy great spiders you don't want to mess with. I was told you don't casually grab from limb to limb walking through the bush if you don't want to find one. Can't think of the name.

We have a lot of wild ducks and there is a deer farm about 5 miles up the road from us, it is lovely to drive past and see the deer out in the open. If you drive further up the coast you can sometimes see wild deer, and at certain times they have hunting but you must have a permit. I don't like the thought of someone shooting bambi.
We used to have a supplier that we got friendly with and he lives up the coast and inland a bit, anyway we went to his place for a end of season BBQ and low and behold he had a stuffed Bambi sitting on his entertainment unit, my daughter was about 13 at the time burst out crying and would not go back inside his house for the rest of the day. I have to admit it kind of upset me as well, because it was only a baby, not even grown up yet. I am sure it would not have been legal to have.

Redback and funnel web spiders are probably our worst that you can get bitten by. If you do not get the medican fast you can die.

I agree stuffed animals turn me off - and I have hunted. Guy in Ohio had a deer head and the front legs sticking out under for a gun rack. It always looked like the poor thing was raising its hands to heaven like - "Why me?"
I have never seen deer raised like cattle. That is interesting. I know my sister in law spoke of them doing that with Buck - some sort of antelope where she grew up in South Africa.

Do you think that gaudy floral arrangement will look good in the middle of the room, or should we put it over by the loo?
I definetly think that the purple lava lamp needs to go on that cool coffee table you brought in, you know the pretty swirly painted one. ROTF

Hey Mouse do you know who Johnny O'keefe is??
He is one of Australia's great Rock N Rollers
As a matter of fact he was the greatest, a bit before the 70's more like the 50's and 60's, and yes that was before my time, but I just loved his music. Do you know who he is??
They are putting on a stage show about him and it will be in town in August, I AM GOING TO THAT SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spelling lessons are resumed.
