Well, i've really gotta go this time, just had a glub of milk and I can honestly say that it doesn't sit too well on top of champagne. Night all and behave yourselves.

Just saw your last posts about Pauline, apparantly the big boss of Cue reckoned it was only a joke and he's offered her a $1,000 voucher. She declined and is now taking legal action.

Hey Bob, did you see that we have gone past the 1,000th post and I think it was a post of yours that hit the mark. We are into the big time again. LOL

Cue would be trying for damage control, and why wouldn't they, Pauline might be a big pain but she does have pulling power in some quarters.

You're kidding!
It's funny, but I've never looked at the number of posts.
Just how many are there since the very first post three rooms back?

I think she sold her shop, just before the last elections. I may be wrong, but that was the goss at the time.
could you imagine her serving behind a counter, she would have that self serving smirk on her face and you would be wondering what exactly she had put in your order. LOL

We will have to do a count and find out how many posts we have made, but I guess it has to be around the 5,000 or more all up.

Now that is nasty, but very true.
I just went and had a look at the figures for our party post, I could not see the original thread, but I already know it went over 2,500 post, the second one was 1,627 post and now our current thread is over the 1,000 posts, so all in all I think we are doing pretty good and no fights or nasty words or most importantly no blood has been shed. LOL

A mate of mine always refers to Johnny Howard as Pedal Bin.
He reckons every time someone stamps on his toes his mouth opens and shuts and spouts rubbish!
We really do have a lot of losers for our countries leaders, don't we. It is sad when you think about it.
Have you finished your BAS yet, I haven't even touched mine for this quarter yet. Bad aren't I. I dread to think how I am going to have time for it all once we get flat out, we did have the option of only doing the paper work once a year, but then I would have had to pay the amount that the tax department stated and not the actual amount owing, and they want too much. I don't know how they did there workings out on what we have to pay, but mine was waaaaaaaay to high.

It's time for me to go.

Got to get my beauty sleep!
Night nettak.

Goodnight Bob, I hope you get something great at your garage sale in the morning. Is it really worth you even going to bed, they will be ready to start in a couple of hours.

Hi guys - I had to run out early and miss you as the wifes car died and I had to have it towed off. Big puddle of oil under it. The shops says $561.00 - the cam seal is shot. If we had driven it instead of tow it would have ruined the head and we would be looking at $2,000 ++
So that's all my eBay money for the week.
It is easier to avoid bloodshed when we are on different continents isn't it?
About time to start part 3 don't ya think?

Bob - let me know if you want to do a little 'paypal test'. Just added my bank account however it said I needed a seven digit bsb (mine was six). I put it in the format they requested but wouldn't mind using you as a guinea pig

Thought I'd pop in on this lovely rainy, miserable type of day.
Bob I eventually got to bed last night and guess what, the room didn't spin at all. Woke up feeling fine, no hangover - guess I can do it all over again tonight!!!

Ouch Gravid! Our 2nd car has been in the driveway for almost a year now. It needs $2000+ in work itself. But with me being home it hasn't mattered much. With me going back to work soon though, I'm sure we'll feel it missing again!
Wowee, you guys hit the 1000 mark on your own! I was hoping to be here for it, sigh. Oh well, I'll catch the next one!
Things are looking a bit better today with Dad. Things are happening in a positive direction, so we're going to wait it out. He was very happy to see us all this evening. DH, Mom and I all had a long talk today and hashed things out and came up with some of the problems that have been happening and how to fix them. So it was a productive day after all, even if Dad didn't get moved.

Just bouncing us back up to the top, especially to cheese a certain someone off.
Mouse I am so glad things are a bit better for you. It is good that you and your mother go to talk things out. So what happened, how come your dad is staying put. Did you all agree to that or was it the nursing home??
It is good that your dad was brighter and happer to see you all.

Actually... to tell the truth I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to pain... but don't tell anyone (I have a rep to uphold ya know??? )

Oh Netta, it's hard to explain, but I'll try! Ok, Dad has 2 types of medical coverage, Medicare and Altec. Medicare is federally funded and only pays for so much and they have a list of rules a mile long. Altec is coverage through the state for poor people (it's set up so that the spouse doesn't lose everything in taking care of the one that's sick). But Altec is particular on doctors and facilities, as far as which ones are covered.
Part of the problem with Dad is he has no continuity of care. Meaning he keeps getting different doctors, different nursing homes. Not one doctor following him all the way through. For someone that ill, that's not a good thing. The one doctor we like the most, is not under Altec. And getting him to see her is almost unsurmountable and we're not even sure the transportation would be covered. That gets very expensive very quick (it's not just a matter of putting him in the car and driving him there).
Another big problem is that he does not have a regular pulmonologist (sp?). He does have a somewhat regular primary doctor, but when it comes to his disease, she doesn't feel comfortable treating it and she's said so. So whatever meds the hospital puts him on, she leaves it that way, not always a good thing.
From what I understand, yesterday Mom met with the doctor at the nursing home. He happens to be a semi-retired pulmonologist, but Mom feels he's not totally up to date on knowledge or treatments. It was decided that he needed to see a pulmonologist at county (which would be under Altec). The problem is, because it's county, it could take months to get an opening. He can't wait that long. So they have started pulling all of Dad's records, x-rays, reports, etc. to send to the county doctor ahead of time. His plan is to have Dad admitted to the county hospital so he can see him sooner, rather than a regular office appointment. Mom also figures this way it would be easier for him to order tests too, so Dad wouldn't have to come back.
So, it's been decided to let that plan continue so at least he can get into that system and have some continuity of care. We are going to look into the logistics of getting him to see the good doctor. She's very good at knowing the system and how to get around it. But that part may take time and may not work out at all. That's why plan A is continuing.
In the meantime, he was put on antibiotics and one of his meds was increased and he is showing a little bit of improvement. If he was still as bad as a couple of days ago, we wouldn't have let him stay. The funny part is, he was thinking the same thing we were about getting him into the county system. That tells me his brain is still in gear.
Ok, I think I got most of it, any questions? LOL Now do you see why Mom is falling apart?

Yes Mouse I am pretty certain that I understand what you are saying, and I certainly understand why your mother is a dribbling mess and falling apart. It is too hard for her to cope with seeing the person she has spent the biggest part of her life living with and loving, slowly giving up the ghost and fading away.
I am luckier in the fact that my parents have private coverage, and they choose the hospital and doctor of their liking. Our system is different, because even if we do not have private coverage, everyone is entitled to the same level of care. If someone over here were to go into a public hospital and they wanted to have their own doctor, that is allowed in some cases. When my daughter was small and we did not have the money for the private cover, she used to go into the public hospital and her specialist would treat her still as a private paitent, even though she was in a public bed in a public hospital.
It is a pity that you do not have the same sort of thing over there. I have to admit that it has really shocked me, because for a country the size of the US I would have thought that you medical and hospital would have been better than ours, but it isn't.
You just continue to take care and we will always be here to listen and for you to sound off at.
