ThanksBob Of all the cars in the pile up, DH picks the Jag!! We've lost the front end of our car, radiator compressed, and somehow the drivers door got compressed as well, Eric doesn't recall that happening.
The bloke behind only clipped our car and caused no real damage to the rear end and Eric doesn't feel that the bloke behind is the reason for all the damage caused to the Jag in front. I honestly don't know what will happen, our insurance company RACQ/GIO will pay for the Jag (I hope) but I'm not really certain that the bloke behind will be held responsible. Eric was about 5th in the 12-15 car pile-up.
We are going to the hospital tomorrow, I've given him some muscle relaxants to help him sleep tonight. It doesn't appear to be his neck that got affected, it's his back. Would that be still classed as a sort of whiplash?

I have a real problem these days with being serious. Had to be that way all day every day when I worked with all the suits in the corporate world.
In the end I told them to shove it and have never regretted it.

Kazanne, The neck bone's connected to the back bone, etc.etc. Seems that it would be much the same thing.
Keep accurate records of everything that transpires and all associated costs.
Above all, be positive about things.
I'm sure that everything will work out ok.

Bob - It's such a great feeling telling a big company/boss to shove it doesn't it? I've only done it once (with my previous job) before. I wrote them a lovely letter about what I thought of them walked in, put it on the manager's desk and walked out and never returned. I'm not usually a burn your bridges type but the politics in that place nearly drove me insane!!!

But man did it feel gooooood!!!!!

pharlap, It's been nearly twenty years since I made my break. I've done my own thing ever since.
There's times we've been rich, other times stony broke, but I couldn't ever consider working for someone else again.
Things may never be secure or safe, but we seem to get by.
When you work for yourself you've got to do everything. The hardest thing is to stay motivated, but no one else is going to do it for you. The other thing is, you never know what each day will bring!

Kaznne, With any luck I hope to be in your neck of the woods in October.
I'm currently in a knock out golf tournament, the finals which will be played at Robina Woods.
I'm through the first two stages. If I can keep playing well and get through the next four tournaments I'll make the finals.
If I make the top three in Robina Woods I get to go to Portugal, all expenses paid!

Bob - would love to work for myself! One day I will... just have to think of a way to break free ...and there's also that little thing called money which I have none of at the moment

But don't you worry - it will happen... just a matter of when I make my move...

pharlap, If you have a dream then follow it. Things have a way of working out.
I had something happen today completely out of the blue.
I bumped into a guy I haven't seen in years. He is an antique dealer who has a lot of interesting things.
He wants to sell overseas but doesn't want to know how to use a computor so he's asked me to sell his stuff for him. His terms are very straightforward. 50/50. He supplies the stock and whatever it sells for is split straight down the middle.
I've just been sorting out about 60 odd items tonight and more will be coming next week, so I'm going to be a busy bee for a while. The beaut thing is that there's no junk. It's all good interesting stuff.
You see, you never know when good fortune is going to come your way!

That's great Bob I've never met anyone who has been or going to Portugal.!!
You were talking about making the break and going out on your own - Eric has been in
the building industry for years now, since
he was 15 and after long, hard hours and
2 operations on both his shoulders
(arthritus) and the company he is now
involved with (going down the tubes) he
has decided to make a break for it and
seek his future in the U.K. We have a
friend that just moved over there for the
same reason, he's making megga bucks and
doesn't regret it for a moment. I will
stay here in Australia and visit him every
6 months(the summers). It will be very
hard for both of us and the kids but,
the money is a begging!! He envisages that
he will be gone for about 2 years. Do you
know of anyone who has done the same?

I know what you're saying Bob - I just met someone the other day and I have a funny feeling that I've met this person for a reason. Don't worry - I have my feelers out everywhere!

Kaz - I imagine it would be hard only seeing DH a couple of times of the year... especially as you have kids too. I hope everything works out well for you all.

Kazzanne, I don't know anybody who has gone to the UK recently, but I saw an interesting documentary recently about Ireland.
Apparantly, due to a very aggresive investment policy, Trade in Ireland is booming. They currently have the fastest expanding economy in Europe right now and businesses are flocking there. This of course has triggered a massive building boom both in commercial premises and also in residential developments to provide facilities for the vast number of people going to Ireland to work.
It may be well worth finding out more. There is huge money to be made there right now for people with skills in building and construction.

Hello everyone, I am just stopping in to say hello, I was hoping Rocker would have come back to play. Not to worry, we will catch up with her one day soon I am sure. She sure is fast the way she zips in and out again.

Kaz sorry about Eric's car, I told you we saw that prang, and there were cars all over the place, some facing the wrong way ect. I hope his back is alright.

Hello Bob and Pharlap, have I missed Mouse tonight.

I am so tired but I thought I would stop by for a short visit. It has been one very big and fantastic day, but I am almost dead on my feet.

Yes, the fellow that we know that has moved
over there is currently on approx.$150,000
AU and a company car, quite a lot more
than he was earning here. Many of the
major companies over there are even flying
prospective employees over there at no
charge to us. It will be very hard to
get used to not having him around, we've been
together a long time and worked together
for as long. I'd feel like I was losing
my soul mate, but we are mature enough to know that the extra money will indeed be
our future. He will send me money each
week/fortnight, he is very fortunate also
that he has many of his relatives over there
and accomodation would not be a problem.

forgot what it is like to have to trim the

shorter lines in case it's just not me.

An old codger went to his doctors one evening and complained to the doctor that his sex life wasn't what it used to be.
"When did you begin to notice this?" asked the doctor.
The old codger replied, "Twice this morning and once again this afternoon!"

I intend to sleep like a log tonight.

Bob LOL. I can tell you my tiredness
has nothing to do with my sex life. haha

I can relate to what you just said Bob about working for yourself, we have
been our own bosses for almost 17 years
and I don't think that either of us could
work for someone else after all this time.

We do things in our own way, and like you
said sometimes you are poor and sometimes
you are rolling rich. We seem to have had
a lot of poor times, but we always come
through it somehow.

Oh fine, you all come in late to play, so I went and
worked for a bit. Now I'm done for the night and you're leaving!

Pharlap, I'm glad to hear it! I saw that bag of Hershey's
nuggets and it had your name written all over it.
Did you like your Easter basket (even if it was a little late)?

Kaz, I'm sorry to hear about the accident. I bet it about
scared him half to death! I hope his back gets taken
care of as well as your car.

Netta, you're positively bubbling over there! I bet
I know why

Bob, Portugal? Wow! Good luck dear

Thats better...

Mouse - I loved the easter basket... I've never seen an m&m easter bunny before - who knew?

I've got the beautiful rose smelling things in my undies draw making it smell all lovely in there.

And you knew that I love reading too!!! I'm going to take those magazines to work over the weekend and have a good reading session between calls. (weekends are usually quiet - knowing my luck it won't be this time )

I did thanks! I didn't even think of sending postcards... and I have some ones of the Gold Coast here as well somewhere...

I think I might send you another package (a bit later in the year though) as I've found this local company that make these really unique products. Things like gourmet cordials and coffee cordials. I've bought a few of their cordials and the flavours are really way out but very tasty - not just a gimmick...very different.

Speaking of coffee - I'm wondering if quarantine lifted the coffee from the package you sent. There's a note on the Swiss coffee mix you sent referring to ground coffee but it's not in the package. Why do you think they would have taken something like that or am I completely confused and misunderstanding your note????

Lemme see if I can remember what I sent. I know I sent one package of ground coffee, enough to make one pot, I believe it was cinnamon crumbcake flavor and the package was gold color. Did you get that one? I also sent a can of International Coffee instant coffee, Swiss chocolate maybe? Did you get that one??

The cordials sound wonderful. I've always wanted to learn to make my own. I love Kahlua and have made homemade Kahlua before. I made tons of it and had forgotten about it for a couple of years. I brought it out at a party and it was so strong I couldn't drink it anymore! But the guys sure liked it.

Ohhhh.... I love Kahlua!

Yes - you sent the cinnamon crumbcake coffee (delish!) in the first package so that must have been what you were referring to. Well that's good - was wondering if quarantine were lifting my goodies! That would not be on!
