Had an excellent auction night. Got three good box lots - one of which will give me about a months worth of listings!

That is fantastic, I am glad you are getting
a lot of good stuff. I have a heap of things
but I will wait to list them later in the
year, after our busy season is over.

Hiya Bob!

You realise that I'm addicted to this RL auction bizzo? I've even rearranged my work schedule so I now have every Tuesday night off to go to the auctions

Hello, all you dear Aussies', just sitting down to catch up with
what is happening...Pharlap fun evening
good on ya,
Nettak and Bob being good with their
unpaid tax collectors jobs. When we
have to collect sales tax...I tell folks, "We just collect it, we don't
charge it." It kills me they always
want a discount on the merchandise
at the antique shows, I give and the Governor takes away...and he doesn't
even kiss me---if you catch my drift.

Darn this page is wide, have to compensate
so it doesn't run off.

the money you are going to be making from it.

Pharlap, It gets in the blood. I've hung around auctions
for more years than I care to remember. Even when you've
got plenty of stuff, you've still got to go. Just in case!
You get to hate the thought of missing the bargain of the year
on the one night that you don't go!

Bob, Downunder but never down.

Hello Zilvy, our tax is for the GST
goods and services tax, they took away the
sales taxes and replaced them with a broad
tax called GST, it is on everything, and we
just collect it and pay it to the tax man
every 3 months, and it is a right pain.

Goods and Services, Sales all the samey...
pain in the butt. Pharap You are looking perky, did you have a really good time tonight?
Wish I was young again...could be
exhausted at work and a friend would
call and say let's do a show or a club
and it was like I just woke up from a
great nights sleep...could go forever.
Nettak you must have to keep
records of all your sales..do you
have to break them down into categories?
We have to file every 3 months with the State Department of Revenue and the
Federal Gov't once a year. At one time
we had to file with 4 different states cause we travelled to do shows in
New York, Connecticut, Mass., Rhode
Island.
Thankfully New Hampshire didn't have
sales tax. Glad I am off that circuit.

Zilvy - had a great night. Don't know if you've seen Rollins live or not but if you ever get a chance then you must go. A very interesting guy with plenty to say about everything and nothing.

Nettak - I was thinking of you while he was doing his tirade against Pauline Hanson

yes Zilvy we do have to keep records
of every sale. We have to do a BAS every 3
months, that is Business Activity Statement.

They told us it would be easy and not take
any extra time to do, well all I can say is
THEY LIED TO US!!!!

It takes me a lot longer to do my bookwork
now than it used to, alright I have software
that does make some of it easier, but on the
whole I have to spend a long time extra
working on my bookwork than I ever used to.

So we have these statements quarterly and our
general tax is in the middle of the year. Our
tax year ends on the 30th June every year.

I used to do them here in Oz,
but I haven't done them now for about ten years.
Too much like hard work!

You know what Pharlap Pauline did an
interview with her daughter this week in one
of the women's mags. and the daughter is
wanting to go into modeling, her mother
wanted to be a model. Can you imagine
Pauline as a model. OMG I think not. PASS!
I feel sorry for her daughter, can
you imagine the flack she would cop because
of her mother.

Bob We used to do about 38 shows a
year. So far this year we have done one
in February. We are gearing up for the huge
Brimfield Flea Market. We rent a 20 x 20
foot tent, 10 tables with shelves filled
with stuff, and floor space for trunks, and
small furniture, mirrors etc. Hubby deals
in collectibe, useable and antique Cameras,
photography, cast iron and all kinds of
interesting goodies. I am the furniture,
mirror, glassware, pottery person. May is
usually the best show of 3 held during the
year. We definitely will not do JULY this
year too damned hot. We set up on Monday
and close out on Sunday. We commute and
hour out and back all week long. Too much
work.

Pauline would be good as a model.
Just imagine her modelling wellies and rubber coats!
She'd also look good in fireproof suits and toxic chemical clean up gear.
She could have a bright future in front of her!

I don't think that I could do that Zilvy
It would be too much for too short a period.
How do you cope with all the traveling? It
would drive me loopey after a while. It
doesn't sound like you get much of a break
from it. Then you have the added worry about
goods being broken and don't you get sick of
all the people.
