Hi bela143! I've been reading your posts, and as you can see, there are so many great people on this board who have been through so much. I know people are praying for your husband (and yourself!), so NEVER give up hope. God has your husband in his arms, and no matter what the outcome, you can trust that He is there for you both.

God doesn't call the shots, but He's there for you to help you through the shots that have been called on your behalf.

Bless you both bela143.

Thank-you for the links BittyBug

And thank-you too Mouse, gravid, nettak, and ALL, for your great posts to this thread!

Thank you Krafty, for starting this worthwhile topic. If you haven't guessed by now, this is a topic that is very close to my heart, and something that I will never tire of talking about.

I beleive that even if only one person learns something from all of this, it is worth us putting into words how we feel about organ donation. As I have said many times this is such an important issue and well worth discussing.

Velma, what BittyBug said about having a hobby or something to keep you and your husband's mind off things while you are waiting for doctors appointments and tests ect, is a fantastic idea. I just never thought to say that. Do you like to do puzzles or word teasers, they can be extremely good for taking your mind off things, you are too busy trying to find the missing piece or looking for that elusive word, to be stressed over something minor like a test result or a doctor's visit. LOL

When my daughter was younger and she was too ill to go to school, but not sick enough to be in bed all day long, we used to collect things from all over the country. We mainly wrote to business companies and Magnet manufacturers. We would explain my daughter's situation and ask them to please contribute a business magnet or whatever kind of magnet they may have, we got about 700 of the things, one manufacturer even made a special one with my daughter's name on it, we still have all these magnets by the way and she is almost 19 now. Anyway what we used to do was list them all in order and keep track of where they came from. This hobby kept her busy for about 3 years.

Now I know your husband will probably not want to collect magnets, but what about beer coasters or he may even try his hand at tapestry, my father took up rug making after he had a stroke, he was not that old and he had always been a high profile business man, it was hard for him to all of a sudden be struck down and not be able to do everything for himself. He shut himself off and it was not until my mother made him start to do things for himself that he came to life again.

You are stronger than you think Velma, {{{{{hugs for you}}}}}.

I crochet...have made dozens of baby afghans and donated them. It has kwept my mind and hands busy, but also made me feel I could still contribute to society in a worthwhile way.

HI NETTAK,
HOW KIND OF YOU TO THINK OF US, THE IDEA OF COLLECTING THINGS IS A GREAT ONE. MAYBE I WILL SUGGEST SOMETHING TO HIM LIKE BALL CAPS, HE LIKES THOSE. HE LOVES TO COLLECT KNIVES, BUT THAT IS TO COSTLY, AND STRANGELY ENOUGH, TOOLS., HENCE FORTH THE HARD WORKING MAN HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN. smile..
I AM SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS TOPIC, JUST WHEN I NEED IT THE MOST.. LIKE I SAID I WAS ALREADY A DONOR, BUT NOW THAT IS SO MUCH MORE REALISTIC. GOD BLESS ALL DONORS, FOR WITH THEIR A LOT OF PEOPLE COULD BE HELPED. MAYBE NOT US, BUT MAYBE SO.. IT IS THE ULTIMATE GIFT, I HOPE EVERYONE THINKS HARD ON IT.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR THINKING OF US, AND {{{{HUGS BACK TO YOU ALL}}}}
BLESSINGS & WARM REGARDS,
VELMA AKA BELA143

I just bet you have more talent than you are giving yourself credit for Velma, I do not crochet or knit either, but I have found that I can do lots of other things, I too have made things for the childrens hospitals and the red cross stalls ect., they are very worthwhile and need to make every bit of money they can. Red Cross are always looking for people to help out in any way possible.

I know what you are saying about the cost of your husband collecting knives. My own husband also collects the things, and tools especially old tools, my husband can not seem to get enough of the things. Good lord men and there toys, I could have my hair done 3 times a week every week for a month for less than the cost of some of these items. Good luck with your auctions, at least that gives you something else to think about.

You know Velma (bela143), what might help your husband, is to get him to come to this thread and say hi to us all. Maybe if he could see that we're all rooting for him, he wouldn't mind talking to us a bit. I know everyone here would be happy to see him and you can tell him that!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. The love you have for your husband is wonderful Velma. Thank YOU!

Hi all, I am just bouncing this back up to see how everyone is doing, especially Velma and her hubby.

Kraftdinner maybe we would be too full on for the poor man to cope with. LOL But you are right in saying that it may help him to know that there are a lot of people in the outside world that care, and are thinking of him at this time.

Have you found out about the support groups yet Velma?? Don't forget to ask your doctor for the information, it is important that you have all the support that you can get.

Hi All,
We are doing pretty good. My husband (FRED) is pretty down most of the time, tired & slow ,moving..
Haven't seen the Dr yet, the 20Th his appointment, just doing the study still and he is on the highest dose now. Doesn't go back until next month now for that..His pressure stills shoots up in the morning.. pretty much in denial still.. I am getting weary trying to hold all the pieces together. He has become pretty grotchety lately, I understand that, but really gets to me at times..
We just don't know what to do about our financial status yet.. I have so many in my house to displace, due to losing this house, & we will lose it.. No one wants to imagine it, that we can't pay our bills after the next few monthes.. I am the most realistic person anyone could know. I see what is comming, no one else does
Well guess I babbled enough, but do appreciate everyones thoughts of us..Lord knows we need them. I mentioned to him to get on this thread with me, so far nil, maybe later I will convince him.
Thank you guys,
With kindest regards,
Velma

Have a joyful day

I just wanted to update everyone with a letter that we received yesterday about what happened with Dad's cornea's. I think it's wonderful that they let you know where they went. Here's a link to the letter (wait for it to load, it's kinda big): http://www.surfbest.net/~mouseslayer/Organ%20donation%20letter.jpg

I hope you are holding up Velma. Please keep us updated! Wishing you and your husband the best dear.

Mouse that is a very wonderful gift that your family has given, and just think it is being of benefit to 2 people in another part of the world. Just Wonderful, it brings tears to my eyes. That could be anyone of our loved ones receiving a precious gift like that one day in the not too distant future.

Thank you for sharing with us.

How is everyone else doing? Velma I know you are still hanging in there, you are tough and strong, we have faith in you and your love for your husband. Come and talk to us when you need to and when you have the time. You are in our thoughts.

Oops.
