I received an email on October 8th with a link to "paypal" website advising me to log on to fix a problem with my account. I clicked on the link and put in my username and password. Then it said site was down for maintenance.
Anyway this was not a link for paypal but a link that some person created a website exactly the same as paypal but with different URL which I failed to notice (a clear act of fraud). Anyway on October 9th this person which now had my username and password unbeknown to me logged into my account and wiped it out $1000. I notified PayPal of this 13 1/2 hours later when I logged into my account the next morning. My account was immediately restricted and I also changed my password. I initially thought wow they are quick to sort this out.
Now 2 months later and having sent in all the documentation required, Affidavit, FBI Report and Police report from my local station Paypal are giving me the run around. THERE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS BEYOND A JOKE THEY ADVISE YOU CANNOT SPEAK TO THE INVESTIGATIONS TEAM THEY ARE VERY BUSY.
To make matters worse I trusted paypal as they advised matter would be taken care of quickly so I continued to accept payments whilst my account was restricted. So now I have $1615 in my account which I cannot get and another $1000 that is lost in space I just hope not forever.
Perhaps the only good thing I have going for me is I am renting a room from a lawyer and when I told him this story he is more than willing to sort it out for FREE .
I USED TO LOVE PAYPAL THIS HAs MORE THAN CHANGED MY OPINION OF THE SERVICE. ITS AN EXCELLENT IDEA JUST SEEMS AS SOON AS THERE IS A PROBLEM THEY TAKE FOREVER TO DO ANYTHING AND FEEDBACK LEAVES A LOT TO BE DESIRED.

paypal customer service is terrible however i contacted Damon after he posted a thread 1 day later everything was sorted. i am still closing my account as i do not trust paypal however if you have any problems damon is the man to sort them out.
perhaps the threat of legel action sped up the process.

Hi Mrfoxy76,
You are the lucky man. Paypaldamon told me he has forwarded my case to the buyer complaint team last Wendesday, but it is already 10 days but still don't have anything good happen to me. -_-

perhaps the threat of legal action may help. i spoke to paypal at least 25 times on the telephone over my 60 day wait. then i mentioned legal action everyting was sorted in 24 hours.
naturally i have now withdrawn all my funds and will be closing my account once the funds reach my bank account confirmed.
