I have been a user for paypal for a few years, I have been very satisfied with their service. I use their debit card for my account.
Yesturday, I received a message from paypal security inquiring into my debit card use.
I called them back, with very little wait time. It seems yesturday, there were two attempts on my card that paypal denied even though there was ample money in the account. This triggered them to contact me. I was pretty sure these charges were not charged by me. So I got the company information that placed the charges on my account. paypal stated they were going to place a hold on my card till I got this figured out.
I agreed to this, and my first thought was they were trying to restrict my account. But instead of over reacting I thought I would follow up on this information. I contact the company and could not get through without giving my credit card number out. I was going to do that. I called back paypal, told them this. And they placed me on hold, while they figured out a way to contact the company. They did, and put me on three-way with the company. I have no idea why the company was attempting to charge me (shipping information for the order was to my location). they cancelled all the orders pending, so they would not charge me again.
Paypal lifted the "restriction" on my card, and allowed me the decision of keeping my current card or getting it renewed.
It was short. It was sweet. I greatly appreciate all the help them provided me.
I know a lot of you guys seem to have problems and don't want to face it. But there is some positive in this company that a few decide to constantly bash.

I'm glad that you got things worked out. Paypal also resolved my restricted account problem. I am happy now but I do have my doubts about whether my problem would have ever been resolved in my favor had I not continued to file complaints and make my case in public. It was never personal for me it was simply that I wanted things resolved and in my favor. I wasn't the one making claims about service, insurance, and 100% control of your money, etc.
So if anyone thinks that someone is over-reacting to the idea of having thousands of dollars restricted, or being held responsible for thousands of dollars because being the target of internet fraud, they should stop and think about how they would feel in the same situation.
Many Paypal users use the Payment service to run part time e-businesses. I for one used Paypal because of the ease of use, the advertised security, and the advertised protection. I honestly had a false impression about the risk of chargebacks and fraud when using the service and dealing with "verified" users and that is a mistake I will not make again.
Paypal should do more to educate its users concerning internet fraud and do more on the front end to better verify users to screen out potential fraud.
